Have we ever opened our Bible, read a verse we've seen a hundred times before—and suddenly it felt like it was written just for us?

Like, in that exact moment, God knew the ache on our heart and sent a Word straight to our soul.

In Episode 99 of Nourished to Bloom, we slow down to reflect on those holy, personal moments when Scripture meets us exactly where we are. Rooted in Hebrews 4:12"The word of God is living and effective, able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart"—this episode explores how God's Word continues to speak, heal, and guide us through seasons of waiting, wrestling, and becoming.

Together, we reflect on what it looks like to sit with the same heartache longer than we expected—and how Scripture gently reminds us that healing isn't about "moving on" faster, but about allowing God to meet us more deeply right where we are.

This episode is an invitation to pause, listen, and notice what God may already be revealing to us about our identity and purpose in this season.

In this episode, we explore:

🌿 Why Scripture can suddenly feel so personal and timely 🙏 How God's Word speaks to who we are, not just what we should do 🕊️ What it means to heal mind, body, and soul by turning to God instead of coping mechanisms 📓 A reflective pause to help us discern what God may be whispering right now 🪴 Why discernment comes before direction—and identity before action ✨ A gentle invitation to root our goals in prayer, not pressure

If we've ever felt "behind," stuck, or unsure why something hasn't resolved yet, this episode reminds us that God's Word is alive, patient, and perfectly timed.

A gentle challenge for the week:

What piece of Scripture feels like a love letter from God to us right now? Let's sit with it. Journal with it. Ask: Who are we becoming in this season, and what is God inviting us to step into?

00:00:00

00:02:20
invitation to thrive.

00:02:24
Hey there. Welcome back to the Nourish to Bloom podcast. So

00:02:28
happy to be spending some time here with you this week. I hope

00:02:32
that your week is off to something beautiful

00:02:35
and blessed and that, gosh, you're

00:02:39
just taking some moments to pause and see the beauty of of God

00:02:43
Moving in your life of the little God winks.

00:02:47
So to say that he's putting in your path as maybe

00:02:50
you're enjoying some sunshine outside, or maybe

00:02:54
if you are in a place where it's pretty cold, just

00:02:57
something cozy and warm that he's putting in your heart.

00:03:01
And, you know, I've shared this before, and even last week,

00:03:05
right, about how just sometimes I feel like the Lord just

00:03:08
puts scripture in my heart and he just, like, puts this

00:03:12
message here in my path that he wants me

00:03:16
to share or to say. And. And I've told you

00:03:19
all this before, too, and this week is no different, where I wake up and

00:03:23
it's like, okay, gotta record a podcast, and I have no idea what I'm going

00:03:27
to say. And yet God speaks to me somehow in

00:03:30
some way, whether it's something that's happened in life or a piece of scripture that

00:03:34
he puts in. In my path. And what's funny is for

00:03:39
a long time, and there's even times that it still happens now, it's like I

00:03:42
beat myself up for not being able to. To be quote

00:03:46
unquote, ahead on my podcast. But when I stop and I think about

00:03:50
what it might mean, it. I think it's just being able to

00:03:54
be appreciative and have gratitude that the Lord is providing

00:03:58
a message every week for the podcast. Even when I'm

00:04:02
panicking, like, Lord, I have no idea what I'm going to say or share.

00:04:06
And then to just that ability

00:04:10
to just like, live in that

00:04:13
moment and recognize when God is speaking

00:04:17
and recognizing his presence through the

00:04:21
messages and through the pieces of scripture that he kind of puts

00:04:24
in my path. And so I had kind of this

00:04:28
completely different idea of what I wanted to share

00:04:32
this week on the podcast. And I think I'm going to come back to it

00:04:35
next week unless God points me in a different direction. But

00:04:40
I sat down to. To read the daily readings today,

00:04:43
and this one little piece of

00:04:47
scripture just really, I don't know, just it

00:04:51
spoke to me, right? And it was from Hebrews,

00:04:54
chapter 4, verse 12. And when I read it, it just

00:04:58
really brought me a lot of comfort because for the

00:05:02
last week, I've kind of been just,

00:05:06
like, beating myself up because I was journaling last week

00:05:09
and I have this kind of same journal. And I don't do this every day,

00:05:13
though. I wish it was a habit that I had every day. But I was

00:05:16
journaling last week and I kind of just flipped back in my journal.

00:05:20
And what hit me was, y', all, for almost

00:05:25
two full years I have been

00:05:28
writing the same heartache, the same

00:05:32
suffering, the same frustration and disappointment in this

00:05:35
journal to the Lord for two years.

00:05:40
And it was like, okay, well, does. That mean there's something

00:05:44
wrong with me. That I've still struggling through this for two

00:05:47
years, or can I just look at it? Of like, okay, I've

00:05:51
really been able to share my heart with the Lord for two years.

00:05:55
And then it led me down some other reflections. And I think that kind of

00:05:58
leads to what we may be talking about next week. But it's just something

00:06:02
that I've kind of been beating myself up about over. The last week of like,

00:06:05
God, Carrot. Like, you can't even get over this, or why are you

00:06:09
still so focused on this for two years?

00:06:12
Like, almost like I was trying

00:06:16
to tell myself, like, the Lord just wants you to get over this, right?

00:06:21
But then it was. I read this piece of Scripture today, and it would just.

00:06:24
It brought just so much comfort and so much peace to

00:06:28
me. And it was like that just gentle reminder from the

00:06:31
Lord. And so what it says In Hebrews, chapter 4, verse

00:06:35
12 is, the word of God is living and effective,

00:06:40
able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.

00:06:46
And for me, it was really just this powerful reminder that

00:06:50
no matter what I'm thinking, no matter what I'm feeling,

00:06:54
no matter the fact that I've been writing about the same hurt and struggle

00:06:58
for two years, I can always turn to

00:07:01
Scripture. And that in doing that,

00:07:05
it's going to bring me comfort,

00:07:09
it's going to help with understanding, it's going to bring some

00:07:12
clarity, and oftentimes it brings

00:07:16
about a change of mind and a change of heart.

00:07:20
And I can testify to that, right? Despite the fact that I've had the. Same

00:07:24
hurt and same struggle that I've been writing about for two, two years, I

00:07:28
have these moments where Scripture has really continued

00:07:32
to encourage me and continue to

00:07:35
cheer me on. Like the Lord is saying, like, I recognize that

00:07:39
this is what you are going through. I still want you to do this.

00:07:44
And part of that is having that understanding and that comfort to keep

00:07:47
moving. Forward despite the fact that the outcome. Is not necessarily what

00:07:51
I want it to be. But he knows that in the

00:07:55
depths of my hurt and in the depths of my struggle, he is sending these.

00:07:58
Me these messages of love and

00:08:02
mercy, right? And I just. I just. Today it just really

00:08:05
hit me like this just. It's so mind blowing, right? When we

00:08:09
think about Scripture. And it's just one of these, like,

00:08:13
aha moments. And it's like these words

00:08:17
that have been spoken and recorded and written and handed

00:08:20
down for thousands and thousands of years

00:08:25
are still meaningful and still effective today.

00:08:29
And it amazes me how the same scripture can speak

00:08:33
differently to each one of us from generation to

00:08:36
generation, from season to season and from

00:08:40
heart to heart, and yet

00:08:44
it still produces that same fruit. Like knowing that

00:08:48
God's word is living. It is living.

00:08:52
Like, when I think about that, I think about lungs, like, just inflating,

00:08:56
right? Breathing, lungs breathing. I think about flowers

00:09:00
blooming, like, just what that means. What image comes

00:09:04
to your mind when you think about the fact that God's word

00:09:07
is living, that it adapts,

00:09:11
that it has truly withstood the changes and the

00:09:15
challenges that this world brings. And it's something, and probably

00:09:18
one of the. The only things that has truly

00:09:22
stood the test of time. And I can

00:09:26
even see this in my own life, that for so many years of my life,

00:09:30
I wondered somewhat aimlessly, right? Filling my heart and my

00:09:33
mind with things that were temporary and fleeting,

00:09:37
that promised me comfort or control,

00:09:41
but was just a band aid. It never truly delivered, it never truly

00:09:45
satisfied. And yet

00:09:49
true joy and contentment came when I

00:09:52
accepted that invitation to know God

00:09:56
daily and not just on Sundays.

00:10:00
And a real turning point for me was when I decided to

00:10:03
heal my relationship with food and my body. That. That

00:10:07
really was that turning point to truly living my faith. Because

00:10:11
instead of doing turning to food and running to food,

00:10:16
I began to turn to the Lord.

00:10:20
And in those moments, he gave me words that I needed to hear the

00:10:23
most. Words that were full of love, words that

00:10:27
were full of mercy and compassion. Words that

00:10:31
brought about true healing of my mind,

00:10:34
my body, and my soul. And

00:10:38
that was that beginning, right? And it's been through his words

00:10:43
that I've come to understand my true identity. And it has

00:10:46
been through his words that I've come to recognize my purpose

00:10:50
and the calling that he has on my life. And so I want to

00:10:54
pause here for just a moment because I think that this is important and I

00:10:57
want to take some time just to have you reflect.

00:11:01
Because when we turn to God and when we truly turn to him, we're

00:11:05
not just looking for answers, but I really think it's.

00:11:09
We're being reminded of who we are, right? We're being

00:11:12
fortified through his words, right? That, that. That whole idea

00:11:16
of the armor of God, we're being equipped.

00:11:20
And so as you're listening right now, I want to invite you to

00:11:23
reflect back on a piece of scripture that is spoken

00:11:27
to you in a meaningful way. Maybe it's something

00:11:31
that's happened recently, or maybe it was a piece of scripture that's

00:11:34
spoken that. That spoke to you years ago, and you just had that, like,

00:11:38
profound, like, movement or that it brought

00:11:42
about peace or comfort or conviction. And it's

00:11:46
just something that has stayed with you.

00:11:49
And as you recall that piece of Scripture, I want you

00:11:53
to gently challenge yourself by asking, what

00:11:57
was the Lord telling you through that scripture?

00:12:02
Not just what the Word said on the page, but what it

00:12:06
revealed to you. Because I

00:12:10
think so often before we rush to fix things, before

00:12:14
we plan or strive or set new goals, God

00:12:17
is first speaking to our identity. That is the

00:12:21
turning point. Before action

00:12:25
comes discernment, before direction comes understanding.

00:12:29
And so ask them, ask him,

00:12:33
who am I becoming in this season and what are you

00:12:36
inviting me to step into? And y', all,

00:12:40
this is really why that Word of God is never passive, that it's

00:12:44
living and active and so deeply

00:12:48
personal. I just. It's these images of like,

00:12:52
of love letters being exchanged between you and Him.

00:12:57
And in my own calling and mission, I felt both encouraged

00:13:00
and challenged by the Lord to

00:13:05
also be living and effective. That it's. It's

00:13:08
His Word is living and effective. But through His Word that

00:13:12
is living and effective, he is also calling each

00:13:16
one of us to be living and effective, to share his

00:13:20
words, to use the gifts and the talents that he has

00:13:23
entrusted to each one of us, and to fully live as

00:13:27
the woman that he created each one of us to be.

00:13:31
Because he's extending that same invitation to you, the way that he

00:13:35
invited me to that several years ago. He is

00:13:39
encouraging you and gently challenging you

00:13:42
to be that living and effective person right

00:13:46
here, right now, in this moment of your life.

00:13:51
So run to His Word. Look for the messages that he

00:13:55
is sending you. It's almost like this ultimate scavenger

00:13:58
hunt, right? To find that meaning in the

00:14:02
message that he is literally placing in your lot.

00:14:06
Trust that he's going to always provide exactly what you need to hear,

00:14:11
because he knows your heart and he knows your thoughts,

00:14:16
and he makes His Word living and effective because he knows your

00:14:20
heart and your thoughts. He knows the desires that you

00:14:24
barely allow yourself to name, the ones that you think are

00:14:27
too quiet or too risky or too much. And

00:14:31
he knows them. And he wants those good things for you also.

00:14:37
And so if you are feeling this, like,

00:14:41
desire, if you've had something stirred in you to.

00:14:45
To really grasp and embody

00:14:48
being living and effective in your own life,

00:14:53
if you're sensing, you know, this desire for more clarity

00:14:57
around your identity or your direction.

00:15:00
I want to invite you to take that next step. And that next step

00:15:04
is joining us for the Goal Setting with God Retreat that's

00:15:08
taking place on February 3rd. It starts at 11am

00:15:11
Central. It's going to be on zoom. If you cannot make it

00:15:15
live, it will be recorded, but please register for

00:15:19
it. You can find the registration link in the show

00:15:22
description. And this whole retreat, it isn't about

00:15:26
pressure, it isn't focused on productivity, but it's really

00:15:29
about discernment. It's about slowing down. It's about

00:15:33
listening and following that

00:15:37
direction of who God is calling you to be and how

00:15:41
he's inviting you to live out this

00:15:44
season. Because when we do this, our goals are going to be

00:15:48
rooted in our identity. The plans are going to be

00:15:51
anchored in prayer, and it's really just this opportunity to

00:15:55
create space to hear what God is already placing on

00:15:59
your heart. And so if, if this episode resonated with

00:16:02
you, I would love to walk with you in that space, y'. All,

00:16:06
as always, I am so grateful for all of you who

00:16:10
take the time to show up every week to

00:16:13
listen to the podcast. It's

00:16:17
really fuel for my soul to to keep going despite the

00:16:21
struggles and the challenges that come with that. And so just know

00:16:25
how deeply appreciative. I am of of you

00:16:28
following along of hopefully these messages

00:16:32
speaking to your heart. And so again, thank you so

00:16:36
much for being here. I'd love to see you at our Goal Setting with God

00:16:39
Retreat. Use the link in the show notes to sign up. I hope you

00:16:43
continue to have a beautiful and blessed week. Remember, beauty health is a

00:16:47
seed. Beauty shared. It is the flower, y'. All. It is your

00:16:51
time to bloom. It is your your time to be living and

00:16:54
effective. I will see you right back here next week.

00:16:58
Until then, take care. Bye.
