We've reached the end of another year—and if you're finding yourself in that quiet, in-between space after Christmas, where routines are off and emotions feel a little "blah," this episode is for you.
In this final episode of 2025 on Nourished to Bloom, we're invited to slow down and gently reflect on the year behind us through a faith-centered Year End Review. Whether the past twelve months were filled with joy, challenge, growth, or simply survival, this is a sacred pause to notice how God has been present—often in ways we didn't expect.
This episode isn't about judging the year or creating pressure for a "better" version of ourselves. Instead, we're creating space to reflect with compassion, honesty, and hope—so we can step into the new year grounded, grateful, and open to what God is still unfolding.
🌿 In this episode, we reflect on three powerful themes:
✨ Gratitude • Where did blessings—big or small—show up this year? • What moments of joy, connection, healing, or nourishment can we name and thank God for?
🤍 Grace • Where did things feel messy, disappointing, or unfinished? • How can we release self-criticism and extend grace to ourselves and others as the year closes?
🌱 Growth • How have we grown spiritually, emotionally, and physically? • What lessons did God gently teach us, and where might He be inviting us to keep growing next?
We also acknowledge the very real humanness of this season—the post-Christmas slump, the lack of motivation, the exhaustion—and remind ourselves that none of this means we're doing something wrong. It simply means we're human.
Through personal reflections, including unexpected twists and moments of surrender, we're reminded that God works not just in the highlights—but in the interruptions, the quiet days, and the unanswered questions too.
So grab a warm drink, a journal, and a cozy spot. Let's reflect together—rooted in gratitude, covered in grace, and open to continued growth—as we prepare to step into a new year ready to bloom.

00:00:00
Well, we made it to the end of another year.
00:00:04
I pray that you and your family have had a
00:00:07
beautiful and blessed year. But we are in that
00:00:11
time at the end of the year between Christmas and New Year's that is just
00:00:15
that. What day is it? What am I doing? There's no
00:00:19
sense of routine you may be feeling blah.
00:00:22
Nothing sounds good to eat or cook. It's just
00:00:27
there, right? And I think we all go through that kind
00:00:31
of lull in the year between Christmas and New Year's. So what I
00:00:35
wanted to offer up was a kind of a guided
00:00:38
exercise to really look at your year in
00:00:42
review. Really looking at the ways that the Lord has
00:00:45
worked in your life over the past year. Really
00:00:49
focusing on gratitude for the things that
00:00:52
he has blessed you with, the obstacles that he has
00:00:56
helped you overcome, maybe some clarity in some
00:01:00
suffering that you have gone through. So that's what we're going to do today.
00:01:04
And if you find yourself with some extra time on your hands after you
00:01:07
go through this year in review exercise, I highly
00:01:11
encourage you to check out the replay of the Writing
00:01:15
your next Chapter retreat that
00:01:19
I hosted a couple of weeks ago. And that will really help you start
00:01:22
to set the tone, set, set the stage for maybe where the Lord is
00:01:26
calling you to spend some time and focus your
00:01:30
your love and your service in the new year. So
00:01:33
I hope that you enjoyed this exercise, I hope that you check out that
00:01:37
retreat replay and I will see you in the new year.
00:01:41

And I'm so happy you're here. Welcome to Nourish
00:03:14
to Bloom, where every day is a sacred invitation to
00:03:17
thrive. Hey there. Welcome
00:03:21
back to the last Nourish to
00:03:24
Bloom podcast episode for the year of
00:03:28
2024. How crazy is that? I just
00:03:31
started this podcast in April of this year, and that was probably one of the
00:03:35
big highlights of the year. And if you ever go back and
00:03:39
listen to the beginning of the podcast, you'll kind of understand where this podcast came
00:03:43
from. But this time last year, I was
00:03:47
having conversations with God and doing a little bit of goal setting and
00:03:50
really asking God, you know, where do you want me to spend my time and
00:03:54
my energy and what do you want me to focus on in this next year?
00:03:57
How do you want me to serve? And he very clearly said to
00:04:01
me, a podcast. And I very clearly said, nope, don't think
00:04:05
that's gonna happen. And despite,
00:04:08
you know, me really not believing that this would ever happen, God
00:04:12
showed me the way. He really showed me that path. Had all
00:04:16
these questions of, well, how would I do this? What would I do? And,
00:04:20
you know, as soon as I was willing to entertain
00:04:24
God's plan for me, he of course showed me the way and put a
00:04:27
podcast course in my path for me to
00:04:31
purchase and learn how to do this. And then, you know, we put
00:04:35
the. The episodes out there and he brought listeners. So I'm grateful
00:04:38
for each one of you who tune in weekly. I
00:04:42
did mention in my little intro that it's been a heck of a week, and
00:04:46
I really thought about not putting an episode out this week,
00:04:50
but I had to stop and think, you know, just despite everything
00:04:54
that's happened this last week, meaning we didn't get to travel home to see
00:04:58
our family for Christmas because my middle one was running
00:05:01
a fever. And it ended up being he ran a fever for 11 days.
00:05:05
I took him to the ER yesterday. Turns out he
00:05:09
has mycoplasma pneumonia. We spent a night in the hospital.
00:05:13
He was discharged today, all the things. And on
00:05:17
top of this, we're supposed to fly out to Disney World on Saturday
00:05:20
for four days with the family. That was their
00:05:25
Christmas present. So needless to say, it's been a little bit
00:05:28
crazy and hectic around here. But despite all of that,
00:05:32
I just really have to be so grateful and thankful for all the
00:05:35
blessings that the Lord has provided for us in this last year. And so
00:05:39
that's kind of what want to do today, is really kind of guide you through
00:05:43
a little bit of a reflection. Because as we approach the end of this year,
00:05:46
it's only natural that we reflect on everything that's
00:05:49
happened, the highs, the lows, and everything in
00:05:53
between. And I really want to challenge you to see
00:05:57
where God was in the highs, in the lows, in
00:06:00
the everything in between, in the everydays, and just really
00:06:04
reflect on how he was moving in your life.
00:06:08
And so I'm going to kind of guide you through what I kind of
00:06:12
am calling this Faith Centered Year in Review
00:06:15
exercise. And it's just designed to help you reflect on the growth
00:06:19
that you've had this last year, maybe help you renew your focus going
00:06:23
into the new year and prepare your heart to bloom in
00:06:26
the year ahead. So I really kind of broke this
00:06:30
down into
00:06:35
really kind of three areas that we're looking at,
00:06:38
but just growth, grace, and
00:06:41
gratitude. Not in that order. Gratitude, grace, and growth.
00:06:45
And so that's really what we're going to focus on because as Christians, we're
00:06:49
called to really examine our lives regularly, that
00:06:53
we are, you know, really not supposed to dwell on our mistakes, but
00:06:56
to bring everything to the Lord and to seek his
00:07:00
wisdom. Psalm 139, verses 23 through
00:07:04
24 says, Search me, God, and know my heart, test me
00:07:08
and know my anxious thoughts, see if there is any offensive
00:07:11
way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.
00:07:15
And this idea of reflection can really be this act of faith
00:07:19
because it allows us to invite God into
00:07:23
our story, right? The story that we are writing with him and
00:07:27
acknowledge how he's been working in our lives, even in ways that we might not
00:07:30
have noticed. And so, like I said, this Year in Review
00:07:34
exercise is rooted in three pillars, gratitude, grace, and
00:07:38
growth. And we're going to kick it off with gratitude.
00:07:41
So I want you to take a moment and think back on the year. What
00:07:45
blessings has God brought into your life?
00:07:48
And they don't have to be these grand or obvious things.
00:07:52
Maybe it's small moments of joy. Maybe
00:07:56
it was a really memorable conversation
00:07:59
with a friend or moments that made you
00:08:03
laugh with your kids. Or maybe after
00:08:07
listening to this podcast, it's been a breakthrough in your relationship with
00:08:10
food. And I want you to write down
00:08:14
Three things that you're grateful for from this year.
00:08:19
And as you do, remember that every good and perfect
00:08:23
gift is from above.
00:08:27
So now I want to shift to maybe some areas that you experience, some
00:08:30
challenges. How did God show up in those
00:08:34
unexpected ways during those times?
00:08:39
How did he sustain you? What things did he provide?
00:08:43
Maybe it was tangible or maybe it was spiritual
00:08:46
or emotional, or maybe it was through the people that you were
00:08:50
surrounded by. All of these
00:08:54
things allow us to put on that attitude of gratitude, and it's
00:08:57
a way to honor God's faithfulness even when life fails felt
00:09:01
hard. So now let's talk
00:09:05
about grace, both receiving it and giving it.
00:09:08
So when you think about any goals or intentions that you set at the
00:09:12
beginning of this past year, how did you feel?
00:09:18
Maybe you hit some milestones or maybe things didn't really go
00:09:21
as planned, and that is okay.
00:09:25
We're reminded in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that my
00:09:29
grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect
00:09:33
in weakness. So take a minute and reflect on
00:09:36
these questions. Where did you notice yourself striving
00:09:40
for perfection instead of leaning on God's
00:09:44
grace?
00:09:47
How can you extend grace to yourself as you reflect
00:09:51
on areas where you fell short
00:09:56
and is there someone in your life who needs your grace and
00:09:59
forgiveness?
00:10:03
And most importantly, as you reflect on these questions, this is not about
00:10:07
judging yourself. This is not about beating yourself up.
00:10:10
It's about the freedom and the permission to treat
00:10:14
yourself with compassion and mercy, just as the Lord treats
00:10:18
us that way. And
00:10:21
finally, let's talk about growth. So as we
00:10:24
reflect on this past year, it's important to
00:10:28
really celebrate those ways that you have grown in body,
00:10:32
mind, and spirit. So spiritually, how has
00:10:36
your faith deepened this past year? Did you
00:10:40
experience any new understanding of God's character
00:10:44
or his purpose for your life?
00:10:48
What about emotionally? What have you learned about
00:10:51
managing stress or emotions or relationships?
00:10:58
And physically, how has your relationship with food and your body
00:11:01
changed? Did you experience moments of freedom,
00:11:05
satisfaction, or peace with food and your body?
00:11:11
And then think about one area you want to continue growing on, growing in
00:11:15
in the new year, and then
00:11:18
pray over it and ask God to guide your steps.
00:11:24
Philippians 1:6 reminds us, he who began a good
00:11:28
work in you will carry it on to
00:11:31
completion. And I really think this podcast
00:11:34
is a testimony to that. I think, you know, one of the most
00:11:38
powerful questions that I really asked was like, lord, where do
00:11:42
you want me to focus? How do you want me to spend my time
00:11:45
and my energy? And where do you want me to serve that was really that
00:11:49
attitude that I took this past year was this idea of
00:11:53
serving. And then surrender was really the
00:11:57
word that I had for myself this last year was just surrendering
00:12:00
all the things that I was unsure of and just total
00:12:04
surrender to the Lord and his providence, knowing that he's. He's got
00:12:08
it, right? He's got it. And so I don't know if you're a
00:12:12
word of the year kind of person. I'm
00:12:15
maybe am. I don't know, it just kind of depends on the year and if
00:12:18
anything really struck my fancy. But really,
00:12:22
I shared this in a couple episodes ago, but the, the
00:12:26
Magnificat prayer and the idea of the word behold and how
00:12:29
behold was really about calling attention
00:12:33
to something that nobody was paying attention to. And when we look at the
00:12:37
encounter that Mary had with the angel Gabriel and the word
00:12:41
behold and how it was used in that and it was this idea of like,
00:12:44
watch, watch what God is going to do
00:12:48
in this situation, in this person's life. And so I've
00:12:52
really kind of taken that word and it's really,
00:12:56
really meant something to me over the last couple of weeks. And I want to
00:12:59
carry that into the new year. Just this word behold and just
00:13:03
this, this, this thought of like behold and watch what
00:13:07
the Lord is going to do in my life and
00:13:10
that I give him my yes, that I give him my fiat that
00:13:14
Lord, let that be done according to your will.
00:13:18
And I'm going to watch and I'm going to be so grateful and behold,
00:13:22
watch what I'm going to be able to do because of, of
00:13:25
you. And that's really kind of the attitude I'm, I'm taking into
00:13:29
the the new year. But I really hope that this reflection
00:13:33
has, has given you a moment to really be able to
00:13:36
pause to connect with God and celebrate all the
00:13:40
ways that you've grown this past year. And just a reminder
00:13:44
that his grace is sufficient and his plans for you are good.
00:13:48
And so just a couple of things going into this
00:13:52
new year. Of course the Faith Led Food Free Freedom Program
00:13:56
is always open so for enrollment. So if you're interested in really
00:13:59
healing your relationship with food in your body in the new year, please reach
00:14:03
out to me. You can find the links to sign up for the Faith
00:14:07
Led Food Freedom Program below in the show notes. But that's an option
00:14:11
that you have. And then I'm really looking at
00:14:15
entertaining kind of a membership or mentorship type of
00:14:21
program or community where each month I offer up
00:14:25
a workshop and then we have three weeks of coaching
00:14:30
after that workshop to just really help go deeper in whatever that
00:14:34
workshop is about. And I know that I mentioned that I was going to do
00:14:37
a workshop in January on goal setting with God. But if
00:14:41
this last week has really taught me anything
00:14:45
is that I really do not do well
00:14:49
spiritually, mentally, emotionally with being overwhelmed
00:14:52
and over scheduled. And when I look at how
00:14:56
Christmas break plays out with my kids, they're off for three weeks so they actually
00:15:00
don't go back to school until January 13th. And
00:15:04
I want to be able to spend that time focused on them. Like I said,
00:15:07
we're going on that trip. And so when I really sat down and I and
00:15:10
I looked at it and I prayed over it, I really felt this permission
00:15:14
to say I did not have to do this in January. So I'm
00:15:18
actually postponing the Goal Setting with God workshop until
00:15:21
February. We're going to do that the first week of February.
00:15:25
You can still join the wait list. The link for that is still going to
00:15:27
be in the show notes to join the wait list for when registration opens. But
00:15:31
that's really going to be kind of that maybe kickoff to this
00:15:34
mentorship or membership community that I
00:15:38
am going to try to build in this new year where we have a
00:15:41
workshop and then three weeks of coaching on whatever that topic
00:15:45
is. And so that first month would be goal setting with God. And with that
00:15:48
we're going to be able to really align our goals. Whether
00:15:52
you're bringing a goal or maybe you started January, you're starting January with a goal
00:15:56
and by the time you get to February, you're looking to recommit to
00:16:00
that. But in that first session we're really going to look at
00:16:03
setting those goals and being able to align those goals with God and His
00:16:07
plan for our life. And then in the next session we're going to
00:16:11
look at obstacles and things that can come up and get in the
00:16:15
way of us achieving those goals and then really work on
00:16:18
creating an action plan and kind of steps
00:16:22
that need to that you need to take to help you reach whatever that goal
00:16:26
is for 2025. So I'd really love have you
00:16:29
join that goal Setting with God workshop that is
00:16:33
happening the first week of February. Again, you can join that wait
00:16:36
list in the link in the show description.
00:16:40
But other than that, I am going to close out
00:16:44
this year just thankful that my son got
00:16:47
to come home from the hospital today and that we are all going to rest
00:16:52
and re energize and hunker down
00:16:55
until it's time for us to catch our plane to Florida, and then we're gonna
00:16:58
go spend a couple of days making some memories at Disney World
00:17:02
with our family. So I hope that however you're ringing in the
00:17:06
new year, that it is beautiful and it is blessed. And
00:17:09
remember, beauty held as a seed, beauty shared is the flower.
00:17:13
It's your time to bloom. Thank you so much for
00:17:17
joining me, and I will see you next week. Take care. Bye.
00:17:20
It.
