Hey friends — this week on Nourished to Bloom, we're diving into a passage of Scripture that hits right at the heart of who we are becoming: the Parable of the Gold Coin from Luke 19:11–28.

So many of us feel like God has entrusted us with something special — a talent, a passion, a story — but fear convinces us to tuck it away, keep quiet, or stay small. Whether we're in the "middle" years of motherhood, career, or faith, many of us are quietly wondering:

Who am I now? What is God asking of me? And what if I mess it all up?

In this episode, we explore how Jesus' invitation to "engage in trade" is really an invitation to step into the gifts He's placed in our hands — faithfully, courageously, and without comparison. We talk about what happens when we hide our gifts… and what can unfold when we finally offer them back to God.

Here's a look at what we unpack inside Episode 93:

✨ What the Parable of the Gold Coin reveals about identity, calling, and courage ✨ The subtle ways fear convinces us to hide our gifts or doubt our worth ✨ Why fruitfulness is found in surrender, not perfection or performance ✨ How we can multiply what God has entrusted to us through small, faithful steps ✨ A visualization practice to imagine Jesus placing your "gold coin" in your hands ✨ How to navigate moments of wanting to quit — and the breakthroughs that come with vulnerability ✨ A life-giving invitation to step into clarity and courage through the "Writing Your Sacred Story" Mini Retreat

This episode reminds us that the size of the gift is never the point — it's our willingness to use what God has placed in our hands that shapes our story. Fear freezes us. Faith multiplies.

00:01:01
Hey there. Welcome back to the Nourish to Bloom podcast. I'm so

00:01:04
grateful that you're here today. This week we're continuing our

00:01:08
series on writing your sacred story and stepping into the woman

00:01:12
that God created you to be. And to do that, we're going to go

00:01:16
deep into a parable that, honestly, I've struggled

00:01:20
with in the past, but now I think it hits right at the heart of

00:01:23
where so many of us get stuck. It's the parable of

00:01:27
the Gold Coin In Luke, chapter 19, verses 11, 28,

00:01:31
y'. All. This passage has been stirring something in me for a few weeks

00:01:35
now because it's not just a story about money, but

00:01:38
it's really a story about identity and calling and

00:01:42
having courage. And I think it can be a story about

00:01:46
your life, your gifts, and your sacred story.

00:01:50
So let's dive in.

00:01:56
Hey there. Welcome back to the Nourish to Bloom podcast. So happy to be

00:02:00
spending some time with you this week amidst all the

00:02:04
holiday chaos. Like I will fully admit, y', all, I

00:02:07
had my meltdown yesterday. Full on, crying,

00:02:11
sobbing, overwhelmed with all the

00:02:14
overwhelm. I sure most of you know what I

00:02:18
am talking about, but it is just the

00:02:22
season, right? And I. I know that I have the tools to

00:02:26
really cope with so much of this and it's usually not bad, but I

00:02:29
feel like we all just sometimes hit that breaking point and

00:02:32
yesterday was kind of a breaking point. And

00:02:37
anyway, talked through some things, had some really great

00:02:40
conversations with my husband and my kids about what I

00:02:44
was feeling, what I was needing, and

00:02:48
I feel like we've kind of turned a page. So I'm very

00:02:52
grateful for that. But I'm sure many of you are probably having

00:02:55
some similar experiences. But

00:02:59
I hope that being here in the podcast is really a

00:03:03
time for you to come and be renewed,

00:03:07
get some encouragement.

00:03:11
Have your Your faith deepened. So I.

00:03:15
I pray that all of that is something that you get from the podcast, because

00:03:18
I feel like that's really kind of the mission and. And the kind of the

00:03:21
purpose and the point behind it. And this week is no

00:03:24
different, because, like I said in the intro, we're really talking about

00:03:28
the parable of the gold coin and how.

00:03:32
The message of the parable is really, I think, what

00:03:35
hits home for so many of us women who maybe find

00:03:39
ourselves in a season of transition or something like middle

00:03:42
motherhood, where we have had this shift, we've had

00:03:46
this change, and we might not know,

00:03:50
like, exactly who we are in this new chapter or,

00:03:53
you know, what it is that we're being called to do,

00:03:57
and maybe we have some clarity on that. But then, you

00:04:01
know, this fear just kind of sets in. So we're going to talk about

00:04:05
that. In Luke chapter 19, Jesus tells a

00:04:08
story about a nobleman who goes away to receive

00:04:12
his kingship. But before he leaves, he gives 10

00:04:15
servants, one gold coin each, one opportunity.

00:04:20
And he says, this is from Luke 19:13.

00:04:23
Engage and trade with these until I return.

00:04:28
This wasn't a suggestion. It was an invitation and

00:04:32
really a responsibility. Jesus is saying that

00:04:36
same thing to you and me today. It was like this light bulb moment,

00:04:39
right? And reading this, and it says, engage in trade with these until I

00:04:43
return. And I'm like, huh? The Lord is telling us the exact same

00:04:47
thing. He's saying, use what I've entrusted to you,

00:04:51
your talents, your gifts, your story, to

00:04:55
love, to serve, to build my kingdom until I return,

00:05:00
y'. All. It is an invitation, but it is also a

00:05:03
responsibility. But then in the parable, we see that there's this

00:05:07
one servant who keeps his coin hidden away. And I

00:05:10
don't know about you, but that's the part that kind of gets me and the

00:05:13
things that come after that, because he didn't waste it.

00:05:17
He didn't spend it recklessly. He didn't hand it off to

00:05:21
someone else. He just hid it.

00:05:25
And in the parable, Jesus kind of calls him out, not because he didn't have

00:05:28
enough talent, but because he refused to use what he was given,

00:05:33
and he refused to use it out of fear.

00:05:36
And let's be honest, we do this, too. I

00:05:40
know I am 100% guilty of this. We hide our gifts

00:05:44
because we're afraid of failing. We're afraid of what people

00:05:48
will think. We're afraid that the gift isn't as big

00:05:51
or impressive as someone else's. Maybe we feel

00:05:55
unqualified or unprepared or unsure.

00:05:59
Maybe we've tried to use our gift before and

00:06:02
it's led us to hurt or suffering. Or maybe we've

00:06:06
gone so long without using our gift that we don't even know what it is

00:06:10
anymore. But this is fear.

00:06:14
This is fear that is causing us to hide our

00:06:17
gifts and to not use them, y', all. Because fear freezes

00:06:21
us. Fear makes us unfruitful.

00:06:26
Fear convinces you that hiding is safer.

00:06:31
Fear is that little voice that's whispering, you'll mess

00:06:34
it up. You'll embarrass yourself. Or someone

00:06:38
else can do that better than you. But

00:06:42
here's the truth that the Lord wants us to know. If we

00:06:45
hide our gifts, we can't bear fruit for the kingdom,

00:06:50
because fear will always make you unfruitful. But

00:06:53
faith, but engaging in that

00:06:57
invitation and that responsibility.

00:07:00
That kind of faith is what allows our gifts to

00:07:04
multiply. It's what allows us to take this one gold coin

00:07:08
and turn it into 5 or turn it into 10.

00:07:12
And here's the other thing. It really isn't the gift

00:07:16
that you have. It's what you do with it. And that's the

00:07:20
part of the parable that shifts everything. The master doesn't praise the servants

00:07:24
for the size of their gift. He praises them for what they did with it.

00:07:29
Well done, good servant. You have been faithful in this small

00:07:32
matter, y'. All. It wasn't that gold coin that mattered.

00:07:36
It was their faithfulness. It was that they took what they had been

00:07:40
given and they used. Was their willingness to

00:07:44
use what they had, even if it might have seemed small or ordinary.

00:07:48
And so I'm going to ask you a question, and I want you to sit

00:07:51
with this. What is your gold coin?

00:07:56
What is the gift God has placed in your hands,

00:07:59
in your heart, in your life?

00:08:03
What is the gold coin that he is asking you to use?

00:08:09
Is it a gift of hospitality or encouragement?

00:08:14
Is it one of teaching or creativity?

00:08:17
Maybe it's stepping into leadership. Or do

00:08:21
you have a tender heart that sees the person everyone else overlooks?

00:08:26
Do you have a deep passion for helping women heal?

00:08:30
Do you have a story that can set someone else free?

00:08:34
Maybe you have a gift for connection or nurturing or listening.

00:08:40
Maybe you're sitting there and you have a desire burning in your heart that

00:08:43
just won't let go. Your gold coin

00:08:47
doesn't have to be flashy. It just

00:08:51
needs to be surrendered and used. Because

00:08:54
gifts multiply through your action.

00:08:59
When I think about my own gold coin like it has never been something.

00:09:04
I mean, I think For a while, I thought it was like, kind of the

00:09:08
outcomes that I had, right? So having a

00:09:11
business and the number of clients I had or how

00:09:15
much money my business made, like, I think about that. Like, that

00:09:19
was the fruitfulness of it. But when I

00:09:23
stop and I really think about. And this has come with.

00:09:28
Really doing work to understand my strengths and my

00:09:31
gifts and my talents and really stepping into

00:09:35
the woman that God created me to be. Because I see this not

00:09:39
just in my coaching business, but I see this

00:09:42
gift play out in many, many different areas of my life. And I

00:09:46
fully believe that my gold coin is connection.

00:09:50
That God gave me a heart that can see people beneath the

00:09:54
surface, to see their struggles,

00:09:57
their desires, their fears, the things that

00:10:01
they're longing for. And then he gave me a passion

00:10:05
for encouraging women, for coaching women

00:10:09
to help them heal their relationship with food in their body

00:10:12
or rediscover who God created them to be. He gave me

00:10:16
this passion for encouraging and coaching women to help them

00:10:20
navigate those struggles, to help them discern their

00:10:24
desires and overcome their fears.

00:10:28
And, you know, for a long time, I hid that coin,

00:10:32
y'. All. There are still days that I think about, what am

00:10:36
I doing? Because this business thing isn't as easy as I thought it was going

00:10:40
to be. And so there are times that I think about, all right, this is

00:10:43
it. This is the last week I'm doing this. This is the last week I'm

00:10:46
going to do the podcast. This is the last week that I'm going to

00:10:50
post anything on social media. This is the last time I'm ever going to

00:10:53
host this mini retreat. Because if I don't get what I want

00:10:57
out of this, what is the point of it? And that

00:11:01
is me completely missing the point of this gold coin.

00:11:06
And when I. When I operate from that mindset, that is me hiding

00:11:10
that coin. That is me letting fear freeze me.

00:11:14
That is me letting fear convince

00:11:18
myself that other people are more qualified to do this,

00:11:21
that someone else is out there already saying it better than I am,

00:11:26
that my voice isn't needed.

00:11:31
But guys, in that moment, like, I have to

00:11:34
stop and realize that those are lies of the

00:11:38
enemy. Because if I really look at it and I think about, gosh, if I

00:11:41
didn't have this coaching business, if I didn't try, if I didn't feel

00:11:45
convicted in sharing this message with other women,

00:11:50
what would I be doing? And the reality is,

00:11:53
I would probably be sitting on my couch, binge watching Netflix,

00:11:57
or sitting in a chair reading my Kindle 24 7,

00:12:01
because y' all that is comfortable. It is so

00:12:04
comfortable, right? If I just don't step into what

00:12:08
God's calling me to, if I just don't use this gold coin, I can't be

00:12:12
hurt. I can't look at it and say, wow,

00:12:15
that didn't really go the way that I wanted to.

00:12:20
So each day it's these moments of me

00:12:24
making a choice. And this is your invitation to. This is your choice,

00:12:28
too, to start using your gift,

00:12:32
to do it imperfectly, to do it vulnerably, but

00:12:36
to do it faithfully and letting God

00:12:40
multiply it. I'm telling you this

00:12:43
because I am one of those people who needs to hear

00:12:47
this every day, that the gift that God has given

00:12:51
you isn't a mistake. He gave it to you because someone

00:12:55
needs what only you carry. Someone

00:12:59
needs your gold coin. And when you use

00:13:02
that gold coin, it is going to multiply, and it is going to be fruitful,

00:13:06
and it is going to help someone else grow deeper. It's going

00:13:10
to help someone else heal. It's going to encourage and empower someone

00:13:14
else. And those are things that I need to hear.

00:13:17
And so I believe that those are things that you need to hear, too.

00:13:22
Because what happens when we use our gold coin, when we use our

00:13:25
gifts, is that we bear fruit we could never manufacture on

00:13:29
our own. We bless others in ways that we

00:13:33
may never fully see. We

00:13:36
step into the story that God prepared for us, and

00:13:40
we experience more joy, more fulfillment, and

00:13:44
a purpose that is aligned with God's will. We start

00:13:48
to grow in courage and confidence, in clarity.

00:13:53
We expand the kingdom of God not by simply striving

00:13:57
on our own, but by obeying the Lord. And

00:14:01
we fully become the woman that God created

00:14:04
us to be.

00:14:08
But when we hide our gifts, we shrink.

00:14:13
We stagnate. We live in, like this Groundhog Day, where

00:14:16
the same thing is over and over and over. We live

00:14:20
lukewarm in our lives. We maybe start to feel

00:14:23
restless. We don't feel like we have any clarity.

00:14:29
We start to feel disconnected from purpose.

00:14:33
And I think it leads our faith life to feeling muted and kind of flat.

00:14:39
It leads to this feeling of heaviness. And maybe that's something that you're

00:14:42
carrying around right now, but it's not heaviness

00:14:46
from really doing too much, but it's, I think, really heaviness

00:14:50
from not doing the thing that God is actually calling you to do,

00:14:54
that we are always so caught up in the ways of the world.

00:14:58
And what the world says is success, what the world says that we should be

00:15:02
doing. And I am so convicted that

00:15:06
that is what it feels so heavy. Because despite the fact that I just

00:15:10
told you, there are days that it is really hard for me to continue to

00:15:13
use this gold coin, to continue to try to have a

00:15:17
business, it still is so much lighter than trying

00:15:20
to live up to what the world is telling me I should be doing.

00:15:25
And so I want you to pause here for a moment. And

00:15:29
if you can, I want you to close your eyes and I want you

00:15:33
to open your hands, hold them out. And I want you

00:15:37
to imagine Jesus placing a gold coin in your hands.

00:15:42
And he's standing in front of you and he is saying to you,

00:15:46
daughter, engage in trade with this until I return.

00:15:50
I have given you everything you need. I will be right

00:15:54
here with you every step of the way. Now step

00:15:58
into the story that I have written for you.

00:16:07
Let the Holy Spirit speak to you in this moment.

00:16:10
What is the gift?

00:16:14
Where is he calling you to use it?

00:16:19
What fears are holding you back?

00:16:24
What is one tiny, faithful step you can take this week?

00:16:29
Maybe it's just accepting the gift,

00:16:32
recognizing the gift.

00:16:38
Y', all, you cannot become the woman that God created you to be if you

00:16:41
are hiding the very thing he entrusted to you.

00:16:45
Your sacred story unfolds when you step forward in faith,

00:16:49
when you use what God gave you, and when you stop

00:16:53
waiting to feel ready, and when you start moving with

00:16:56
faithfulness and obedience. This

00:17:00
is where your identity, your mission, your passion and

00:17:04
your all and your calling all come together and are fully

00:17:07
alive. This is where your

00:17:11
story meets God. Glory. God's glory, as cliche and cheesy

00:17:15
as that sounds. So I'm going to ask you again.

00:17:19
What are you doing with the gold coin Jesus has placed in your hands.

00:17:24
The woman that God created you to be? The story he is inviting

00:17:28
you to write the calling that he has prepared in advance for

00:17:32
you. Y', all, none of it can unfold if you keep your gifts

00:17:35
hidden. And

00:17:39
so that's why this week I invite you to join me in the writing

00:17:43
your sacred story mini treat, mini retreat. It is also

00:17:47
a treat, but writing your sacred story mini retreat, getting

00:17:50
divine direction for the upcoming year.

00:17:54
It's a space for you to

00:17:58
really lean into that holy nudge that you're feeling for more.

00:18:03
It's for women who are ready to step out of fear, for women who are

00:18:06
longing for clarity and courage and direction with God.

00:18:10
It's about identifying your gold coin and then

00:18:14
putting it to use. So if your heart has been

00:18:18
whispering, lord, I want to use what you've given me, but I just don't know

00:18:21
where to begin. Then this retreat is

00:18:25
for you. In the one hour that we will spend together, we're

00:18:29
going to walk through what your gold coin is, where God may be

00:18:33
calling you to multiply it. How to stop hiding

00:18:36
behind fear, perfectionism and comparison.

00:18:41
Really be able to discern what the next steps in your sacred

00:18:44
story might be. And how to start

00:18:48
becoming the woman that God uniquely designed you to be.

00:18:53
Y', all, you can't let another season go by hiding your gift. So come and

00:18:57
join us and let God breathe clarity and purpose and

00:19:00
courage into your next chapter. So join us
