This episode of Nourished to Bloom is tender and raw. Recording it wasn't easy—but it felt necessary. As floods have devastated parts of the Texas Hill Country, just minutes from my own home, I found myself wrestling with the weight of grief, confusion, and helplessness.

💧 A moment to grieve the heartbreak and devastation in our community 🙏 A powerful prayer for the girls and families of Camp Mystic and all those affected 🕊️ A reflection on the gift of knowledge and how it helps us hold onto God's truth when we can't make sense of the pain 🛐 Encouragement to pray for the first responders, families, and leaders navigating unimaginable loss 🤍 A call to compassion and faith when answers feel far away

While it may seem small in the face of such tragedy, this episode is an offering—an invitation to sit in sorrow, cling to truth, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our hearts toward hope.

If you feel called, you'll find a donation link in the show notes to support flood relief through the Hill Country Community Foundation.

00:00:01
Hey, there. Welcome to this week's episode of

00:00:04
the Nourish to Bloom podcast.

00:00:08
I'm not going to lie, this episode

00:00:14
has been really difficult to record because

00:00:19
nothing seems appropriate. I

00:00:22
guess doesn't seem

00:00:26
that in the grand scheme of the tragedies that are

00:00:30
going on right now, that this

00:00:33
podcast even matters. And

00:00:37
I say that because I

00:00:40
live about 30 to 45 minutes away

00:00:45
from these areas in Texas that have

00:00:48
been affected by this flooding and this

00:00:52
tragedy and this devastation.

00:00:57
Even just a month ago, we

00:01:01
drove to Ingram for four nights to play an All Star

00:01:06
baseball tournament. Just that little town. And every time you got to

00:01:09
the ballpark, you had to go right across the river.

00:01:14
And it's hard and it's heavy. And while it

00:01:17
hasn't personally impacted me or my family

00:01:22
as a mom like you mothers out there,

00:01:26
just the heartbreak and the emotions that come with

00:01:30
this are just so heavy.

00:01:34
So in the

00:01:38
podcast show Notes, I'm going to post

00:01:42
a link for the Hill Country Community

00:01:46
foundation that is accepting donations

00:01:49
specifically for the flood victims, if you

00:01:53
feel so inclined to donate financially to the

00:01:57
cause. But, of course, lifting up

00:02:02
all of the families that were affected by this in

00:02:05
your prayers and

00:02:09
in your thoughts, and just

00:02:13
knowing that

00:02:20
while it is so difficult to process

00:02:24
that our faith in God is what was

00:02:28
going to keep us moving forward,

00:02:32
that when we think about the little girls at Camp mystic and that it was

00:02:36
a Christian summer camp,

00:02:40
that they loved Jesus with that

00:02:43
childlike love, with that childlike dependency,

00:02:50
that they did not let the doubts and the fears creep in,

00:02:53
but so many of them just had that pure,

00:02:57
childlike love for Jesus up until the very

00:03:01
last minutes of their life.

00:03:07
I apologize if you hear the sniffling. It's

00:03:10
really hard. I want to share a prayer with you

00:03:14
that I saw

00:03:18
on Facebook specifically

00:03:24
for this community.

00:03:27
So we'll pray in the name of the Father and of the Son and the

00:03:30
Holy Spirit. Amen. Lord, we come to

00:03:33
you with heavy hearts, lifting up the girls and families of Camp

00:03:37
mystic, wherever they are. Lord, surround them with your divine

00:03:41
protection. Hold them close in the safety of your arms.

00:03:45
Calm every fear, quiet every storm, and let them feel

00:03:49
the warmth of your presence like a guiding light in the dark.

00:03:53
We ask for strength for their families. Give them peace

00:03:56
that surpasses understanding and hope that does not fade.

00:04:00
May they feel you walking beside them through every moment of this unbearable

00:04:04
uncertainty. Lord, we also pray for the hearts of

00:04:08
this community, for those searching, waiting, and holding

00:04:11
onto faith. Unite us in love, in prayer,

00:04:15
and in action. May the truth come quickly and May it

00:04:19
bring healing. You are the God of miracles. We believe

00:04:23
in your power and your mercy and in your unfailing love.

00:04:28
Amen. In the Father and the Son of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

00:04:36
As we've been talking about our summer series,

00:04:41
Summer with the Holy Spirit, this week's podcast

00:04:45
is supposed to be focused on the gift of knowledge. And

00:04:50
I don't. Like I said, it feels

00:04:54
very insignificant,

00:04:59
this podcast, in the grand scheme of it all,

00:05:03
especially in this week. But when I

00:05:06
think about the gift of knowledge and we think about what it

00:05:10
means, and it's really the ability to grasp spiritual

00:05:14
truths and insights that are beyond natural comprehension,

00:05:20
I can't think of a gift that we would maybe need more in this time,

00:05:24
right. To be able to hold on to the spiritual truths

00:05:28
that we know, that we have grown in, that we have grown to trust in

00:05:31
the spiritual truths about God and who he is and

00:05:35
his character and what it does, what he does.

00:05:40
I can't think of something that we need to grasp onto more

00:05:44
than that in this moment when we can't comprehend why something like this

00:05:48
would happen. But this gift of

00:05:51
knowledge can really help us to see things from God's point of view,

00:05:55
which may differ from our own limited understanding.

00:05:59
And it's a gift that can help guide our prayer and helping us

00:06:03
to know what to pray for in difficult times such as

00:06:07
these. And it allows us, as I

00:06:11
just read the prayer, to think about some of those spiritual truths

00:06:15
of who we know God to be,

00:06:19
that he is our divine protection,

00:06:25
that he can quiet every storm,

00:06:29
that He's a guiding light in the darkness,

00:06:35
that he is strength.

00:06:41
And when we can grasp onto and hold on to these spiritual

00:06:45
truths, I think they're the things that we

00:06:48
need and can rely on and can be infused with

00:06:53
for times such as these, to allow us to

00:06:57
remember who God is and what he does,

00:07:01
his goodness, his love, his mercy and his

00:07:05
compassion. And when we can do

00:07:09
that, it allows us to. It

00:07:12
doesn't take the pain away, it doesn't take the hurt away, it

00:07:16
doesn't take the ache away. But I think that through the

00:07:20
Spirit and the gift of knowledge, that it allows

00:07:23
us to be comforted and it

00:07:27
allows us to hold on in

00:07:31
hope and faith

00:07:35
in God's divine mercy and

00:07:38
compassion and. And his plan and his will,

00:07:42
despite the fact that we don't understand

00:07:48
why tragedies happen, why certain things happen. But

00:07:52
this. This gift of knowledge allows us to

00:07:55
hold on to the things that are necessary to help move us

00:07:59
forward, to give us that, and that strength in. In difficult times.

00:08:05
So I ask that you continue to pray for the Texas Hill

00:08:09
Country. Pray for the souls

00:08:13
of those who died in this tragedy.

00:08:17
Pray for the families who are impacted by the loss of life.

00:08:22
Pray for the families who have to rebuild, who have

00:08:25
lost everything in literally a matter of minutes.

00:08:30
Pray for the first responders and the difficult job

00:08:34
that they have.

00:08:38
Pray for the volunteers who are

00:08:42
out there giving their time to help with cleanup and search

00:08:45
efforts. Pray for

00:08:49
our government leaders that they know how to

00:08:53
proceed in this

00:08:57
time that really allows them to

00:09:01
let God guide them with this gift of knowledge to give

00:09:05
them the answers that they seek.

00:09:10
And treating every victim of this with dignity

00:09:14
and worth and compassion, just as the Lord

00:09:18
treats us. And like I said,

00:09:22
if you feel compelled to donate financially,

00:09:26
I will have the link for the Hill

00:09:29
Country Community foundation that is collecting money that will go

00:09:33
directly to the flood victims.

00:09:38
I pray that you have a beautiful and blessed week going forward.

00:09:46
And remember, beauty held as a seed, beauty shared as the flower.

00:09:51
It's your time to bloom. Thank you for joining me. Thank

00:09:54
you for allowing me to

00:09:58
process some of the emotion that I, I

00:10:02
think has been building up,

00:10:06
leading to speaking about this, speaking about

00:10:13
all of it, and, and allowing God's truth to infuse us and the

00:10:17
gift of knowledge to help us

00:10:21
in beginning to understand and comprehend the events that

00:10:25
have happened. Please pray for me.

00:10:29
I'll be praying for you and I will see you back here next week.

00:10:33
Take care and God bless.
