Hey friends! Welcome back to Nourished to Bloom. We're in part two of our "Summer with the Holy Spirit" series, and let me tell you—today's episode is exactly what your heart needs if you've ever wondered how to make everyday decisions through God's eyes, not just your own.
Have you ever been overwhelmed making simple choices in the carpool line, standing in your kitchen, staring at your planner, or struggling with a health goal that just feels impossible? You're not alone. That's where the Holy Spirit and His gift of wisdom come in!
In this episode, we're unpacking what it really means to invite wisdom into the ordinary, not just the life-changing moments. Wisdom isn't reserved for a select few or just for big, dramatic decisions—it's accessible daily, for all of us, if we just ask!
Key Takeaways
🙋🏻♀️Wisdom is for YOU: It's not reserved for saints or people with tons of life experience—God wants to generously give wisdom to anyone who asks.
🧺 Wisdom in the Ordinary: We don't have to wait for special, churchy moments. The Holy Spirit is ready to pour wisdom into our everyday "mom life"—from meal planning to big family decisions.
⏸️ Pause for God, Not Google: We live in a world of information overload, but what we truly need is transformation. Instead of instantly reaching for answers from our phones, we can ask, "Holy Spirit, what do you think?"
Three Practical Areas to Ask for Wisdom:
- Decision Making: Whether you're juggling big life choices or "what's for dinner?", the Holy Spirit wants to counsel you and give you that "God glasses" clarity.
- Time Management: Invite God into your daily planning to direct your energy and focus—even if it stretches or challenges you—for His greatest good.
- Wellness & Health: Stop chasing diet trends and rules; instead, invite wisdom into your health journey. Tune out the world and tune into the Spirit to make nourishing choices rooted in stewardship, gratitude, and respect.
Your Weekly Challenge: Before making ANY decision—big or small—ask, "Holy Spirit, what do You want me to see or do here?" Watch as confusion lifts and peace blooms.
If you've been longing for clarity, purpose, and peace in your everyday—or if you just need a little holy nudge to let go of control—don't miss this episode. The more we learn to walk in wisdom, the more our hearts change… and that's how we truly bloom.
🌸 Beauty held as a seed, beauty shared as the flower. It's your time to bloom!

00:02:29
Welcome to Nourish to Bloom, where every day is a sacred
00:02:33
invitation to thrive. Hey
00:02:36
there. Welcome back to the Nourish to Bloom podcast. So
00:02:40
happy to be with you here this week. I hope you are having
00:02:44
a beautiful and blessed week. So far we are
00:02:48
on part two of our Summer with the Holy Spirit series.
00:02:51
And today we're talking about wisdom and how we can
00:02:55
apply the gift of wisdom in practical ways
00:02:58
in our everyday life. Because I think that sometimes when we
00:03:02
think of wisdom, we think that it's something that's only available to
00:03:06
a select few people, people who've maybe
00:03:09
lived and experienced a lot of life. But that's just
00:03:13
really not true. Because the reality is, is that wisdom is accessible
00:03:17
to each one of us daily if
00:03:21
we only ask, right? That's the key. We have to ask.
00:03:25
So let's begin by inviting the Holy Spirit in
00:03:29
and asking him to pour down that gift of wisdom upon us.
00:03:34
Come, Holy Spirit, you
00:03:38
are welcome here. Come fill
00:03:42
this space. Pour down upon
00:03:45
us your wisdom
00:03:49
that we may know the wisdom to choose our greatest
00:03:53
good. The wisdom that helps us weigh
00:03:57
in making decisions, what it is that the Lord is wanting us
00:04:01
to choose the way that he is wanting us to choose.
00:04:07
Let that wisdom pour down upon us as we discern and make
00:04:10
different decisions in our everyday life.
00:04:14
May your guidance and your wisdom in, in
00:04:18
the small everyday decisions help us to grow and prepare
00:04:22
us for the bigger decisions in life.
00:04:27
Lord, we thank you for your goodness and all that you provide to us and
00:04:30
for the beautiful gifts of the Holy Spirit. May you continue to
00:04:34
pour them down upon us daily in your name. Amen. In the
00:04:38
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. So
00:04:42
I'm really having fun exploring these different gifts of the
00:04:46
Holy Spirit and really, I think, just trying to understand
00:04:50
how they, they can be accessible to us
00:04:53
daily and in a practical way. Because sometimes it's like you start to
00:04:57
research these different things and it just seems so, so big
00:05:01
and maybe so theological and so vast.
00:05:05
It's just trying to understand how we, how we
00:05:09
bring this back into living a
00:05:12
Christ like life every day and how we can
00:05:16
be influenced and inspired by
00:05:20
really the tools that he offers us, like the gifts of the
00:05:24
Holy Spirit. And so yesterday at Mass, it was the feast
00:05:28
of Pentecost, and our priest said something that, that really
00:05:32
struck a chord with me. And he was talking about the Holy
00:05:35
Spirit and he mentioned how this
00:05:39
day and age, whenever we have a question or we don't know the
00:05:43
answer to something, we don't take that minute to pause. We
00:05:46
just pull out our phones and one quick Google search
00:05:50
and there it is. We have an answer. We have a so, so
00:05:54
extensive answer that really we just kind of get this information
00:05:58
overload, right? It's a lot to take in,
00:06:03
but it's not always the answer that we really
00:06:06
need. It's not always the answer that the Lord would want us to have.
00:06:10
It's just an answer. And he really
00:06:14
challenged us. Because here's the thing, he challenged us and asked us,
00:06:18
how often do you. Do we turn to the Holy Spirit
00:06:22
when we're looking for an answer, when we're looking for
00:06:26
direction. I mean, seriously,
00:06:30
right? We just pick up our phone and ChatGPT
00:06:33
tells us one thing, Google tells us another thing. Wikipedia tells us another thing. And
00:06:37
we're kind of just left to our own devices to determine what it
00:06:41
is that we should pull from all of these. This
00:06:45
information instead of just pausing
00:06:48
and letting the Lord direct that answer for us. Because we kind of
00:06:52
all have this internal dialogue that is going on in our minds all day
00:06:56
long. We have these questions that we're asking and they're just kind
00:07:00
of thoughts, like, they're just kind of questions. And I don't know about you, but
00:07:03
sometimes I just. It's like this internal dialogue and it's just like this conversation is
00:07:07
going back and forth in my head and I never really stopped to think, like
00:07:11
how simple it would be. Just I. I think a profound
00:07:15
thing to do would just be to direct that question to the Holy
00:07:18
Spirit. Just, just preface the question with Holy
00:07:21
Spirit and then ask the question, right? Or Holy
00:07:25
Spirit, what. What do you think? Right? Because we're
00:07:29
living in an age of just that information overload. But what
00:07:33
we really need is not more information. What we're
00:07:36
really needing, I think, is that transformation.
00:07:40
And that's where the gift of wisdom really comes in.
00:07:44
I've been listening to a series on Hallow from Father Dave
00:07:48
Pavanka, and he says that the gifts of the Holy Spirit allow us
00:07:52
to manifest God's presence in the world.
00:07:56
Right? That's the goal. The goal is for us to
00:08:00
make God more present in this chaotic world
00:08:05
with every, every word that we speak, with every interaction that we
00:08:08
have, with every person that we come across. And that means that
00:08:12
wisdom isn't just about being right, but it's really about
00:08:16
radiating and sharing God's truth,
00:08:19
sharing his love and his clarity. Because
00:08:23
wisdom is the crown of all the gifts. It's really
00:08:27
the heart of our faith. It's that our faith coming to full formation.
00:08:32
Wisdom is the gift that directs our hearts
00:08:35
and our minds. It helps us to know and it helps
00:08:39
us to Understand, it's what makes our faith more
00:08:43
real and allows us to move into that deeper relationship with the
00:08:47
Lord. And lastly, wisdom is the
00:08:50
one that helps us see as God sees it,
00:08:54
helps bring clarity to any situation,
00:08:58
and it dispels all confusion. And
00:09:01
when we start to see as God sees, we start to live as God
00:09:05
desires. Since we've most recently
00:09:09
been reading from the Acts of the Apostles, this just kind of stuck out
00:09:13
to me as an example of seeing the Holy Spirit
00:09:16
at work, how the apostles called upon the Holy
00:09:20
Spirit to help them make a decision. And it was through this gift
00:09:24
of wisdom that when the apostles had had a
00:09:27
council and were meeting and debating on whether or not the
00:09:31
Gentiles who had converted to Christianity would need to be circumcised,
00:09:35
and through this wisdom, through the gift of the
00:09:39
Holy Spirit, they determined that it was not something
00:09:43
that they needed to focus on, that this
00:09:46
wisdom that is being infused through into them through the
00:09:50
Holy Spirit really helped them to see that God
00:09:54
had a bigger picture for their
00:09:57
mission than them trying to enforce this old law.
00:10:02
And so that's why I really wanted to find ways
00:10:06
to share some practical ways to share that
00:10:10
we can call upon the Holy Spirit to infuse us with wisdom
00:10:13
in practical, everyday ways in our ordinary
00:10:17
everyday life. Because if we break this down, I think
00:10:21
when I was looking at it from my own life of where are some areas
00:10:24
that I could grow in wisdom or ask the Holy Spirit to infuse me with
00:10:28
more wisdom, There were kind of three that kind of spoke
00:10:32
to me. And I think that these real life areas where
00:10:35
women, especially women like you and me, can really call
00:10:39
on the Holy Spirit to invoke wisdom in
00:10:43
our lives really revolve around
00:10:46
decision making processes, time management,
00:10:50
and then our wellness. And so the first one being decision
00:10:54
making, right? We. Well, I don't know
00:10:57
about you, but for me, like, decision fatigue, I think I
00:11:01
told my husband for Mother's Day, I just didn't want to have to make a
00:11:04
decision because it seems like that's all we do. We make
00:11:08
so many decisions in a day. And it's not just decisions for ourselves.
00:11:11
We're making decisions for our whole household. We're making decisions for children,
00:11:16
what to wear, what to feed our family, whether to say yes or
00:11:20
no to something. We overanalyze,
00:11:23
how to respond to a text message. We are constantly trying to figure
00:11:27
out the healthiest way to discipline our children. And then we also
00:11:31
are balancing those bigger decisions too, like
00:11:35
what do we do about a career or a passion project
00:11:39
Decisions around our finances or family planning.
00:11:42
And I think it's important that we remember that we are not having to do
00:11:46
this alone. That, that the gift of
00:11:49
wisdom allows us a tool to
00:11:53
help us make better decisions, to take away that
00:11:56
decision fatigue. Because we are. We're really being
00:12:00
counseled, right? We're really being, you know,
00:12:04
we're having our hand held through the entire process through the Holy
00:12:07
Spirit. And it's as if wisdom is like wearing
00:12:11
God glasses. It gives us the spiritual lens that
00:12:15
helps us to see things with
00:12:18
clarity, but in a way that it's like
00:12:21
eternal clarity, right? It moves us out of indecision
00:12:25
and into peace. Because we're not just leaning on logic, but
00:12:29
we're trusting God, that he is revealing to us
00:12:33
the decision that's going to help us achieve our greatest good.
00:12:38
So the next time that you're torn between two good things,
00:12:42
pause and just ask, Holy Spirit,
00:12:46
help me see this the way that you do.
00:12:50
And I think you'll really be amazed at the clarity that follows.
00:12:54
And when we begin to make these decisions, even these small
00:12:58
daily ones, what to cook, what to wear, how to care for
00:13:01
ourselves. When we start to make these small
00:13:05
daily decisions using that gift of
00:13:09
wisdom, inviting the Holy Spirit into it, it's
00:13:12
laying a foundation and it's preparing us for being able
00:13:16
to make those bigger life decisions
00:13:20
rooted in God's wisdom.
00:13:24
It allows us to kind of take that guesswork out of it. We are
00:13:28
more able to clearly see this, the decision that we need
00:13:32
to make that's going to lead to that eternal clarity that's going to
00:13:36
lead to our greatest good. Now, the second
00:13:40
area of our life that I think that we can invite the Holy Spirit into
00:13:43
is our time management and how we are spending
00:13:47
our time. And y' all, this one hits really close to
00:13:51
home for me. I mean, like, I'm seeing this with a
00:13:55
whole new perspective. Because I am just going to say that the struggle
00:13:58
can be real for me when it comes to time management.
00:14:03
Because If I'm being 100% honest with you, sometimes what
00:14:06
God is calling me to spend my time on isn't the most fun or
00:14:10
exciting thing or anything that I really want to do.
00:14:13
Because oftentimes the things that God is calling me to spend
00:14:17
my time on can be challenging.
00:14:21
It can stretch me, it can cause me to grow,
00:14:24
and it can make me feel uncomfortable. And y' all, it's just
00:14:28
so much easier to procrastinate and pretend like I don't
00:14:32
know what to do or distract myself with those
00:14:36
worldly things like reading a book or watching
00:14:39
TV or online shopping or scrolling
00:14:44
y' all, that struggle is so real.
00:14:48
But I have noticed that when I ask the Holy Spirit to
00:14:52
direct my day, if I just kind of sit there and
00:14:55
invite him into that planning process and say, you know,
00:15:00
lord, what do you show me what you want me to work on today. Show
00:15:03
me where you want me to spend my time. And then I. And then I
00:15:06
let him show me, right? I. I take what he's saying he wants me
00:15:10
to do. And while it does sometimes nudge me towards things
00:15:14
that challenging me, that challenge me, they are
00:15:18
often the things that are necessary and what I need
00:15:22
there. They may be moving you in a direction
00:15:25
to have a hard conversation that you've been putting off.
00:15:29
They may be moving you into a direction of serving someone that you
00:15:33
know is in need. I know for me,
00:15:37
it's. It allows me to write or record or create
00:15:41
or, or plan or, or work on my business, even when
00:15:44
I don't feel particularly inspired. Because sometimes I
00:15:48
feel like the only time to work on it is if I have this big
00:15:51
idea and I know exactly what to do. But when we
00:15:54
ask the Holy Spirit to direct our days, to direct
00:15:58
how we are spending our time, what
00:16:02
happens is there's this shift that what was once
00:16:05
challenging or uncomfortable actually becomes
00:16:09
more exciting and maybe more rewarding
00:16:13
because you realize, like, you are doing the
00:16:16
Lord's work, you are doing what he's asked you to
00:16:20
do, and maybe you start to see the fruits of your
00:16:24
labor and then also that you aren't doing it alone.
00:16:28
The likelihood is that it's probably a little bit easier than you thought it
00:16:32
was going to be because the Holy Spirit is right there with you.
00:16:35
It's like you're truly living the scripture of Matthew
00:16:39
11:28 30 of taking up the Lord's
00:16:42
yoke, that you're doing it with him. And because you're doing
00:16:46
it with him, you're learning from him. And we know that he makes
00:16:49
it easier and, and that he makes the burden light.
00:16:53
And as you begin to become more confident in your calling
00:16:57
and how you are spending your days and your time, even
00:17:01
if it's counterintuitive to what the world is saying
00:17:05
you should be doing, you are more confident,
00:17:08
you're more sure, you're more willing to do the things,
00:17:12
because the ways of the world are not our Lord's ways.
00:17:16
And, and growing in wisdom helps you to see that difference
00:17:21
and to start to more often make decisions
00:17:24
that promote your greatest good, that good that God
00:17:28
desires for us. Your life becomes more closely
00:17:32
tethered to the Lord's plan for you. And you begin
00:17:36
to see that plan being revealed to you because you are
00:17:39
seeing things the way that God sees things.
00:17:44
And here's the third one, our health and wellness. And I think this is a
00:17:47
place where wisdom can. Is probably pretty
00:17:50
underrated because so many of us are trying to follow
00:17:54
rules around food, exercise and our bodies.
00:17:57
We're chasing what's trending instead of
00:18:01
what's true. But wisdom can help us to
00:18:04
slow down, right? It helps us to. To create
00:18:08
that pause and just allow God to
00:18:12
reflect his light on whatever it is that we're trying
00:18:15
to do. It allows us to listen
00:18:19
inward and make choices from a place of
00:18:22
stewardship, a place of gratitude and a place of respect,
00:18:27
not a place of restriction or trying to
00:18:31
fit a mold. Because remember, when we talk about
00:18:35
our wellness and taking care of our body, God created us with that
00:18:38
internal wisdom. We just have to ask for
00:18:42
help and listening to it and then following its direction.
00:18:46
It helps us to see that movement can be a form of worship,
00:18:50
not punishment for something that you ate. That nourishing
00:18:54
your body is a sacred act, a form of
00:18:57
stewardship, not a chore.
00:19:01
And then that your worth is not measured by your weight,
00:19:06
your meal plan, or your to do list.
00:19:09
Wisdom gives us that courage to trust our
00:19:13
God given clues, right? The. The clues that
00:19:17
God is putting there in our. In our way, in our
00:19:20
path. Wisdom allows us to see them, to
00:19:24
care for our bodies without idolizing them, to
00:19:28
tune out the noise of the world and tune into the spirit that's
00:19:32
living in each of us. Y' all. You don't
00:19:35
have to earn wisdom. You don't have to be perfect to
00:19:39
receive it. You just have to ask.
00:19:43
Holy Spirit, infuse me with wisdom. Pour down your wisdom
00:19:49
in James, chapter one, verse five. It tells us that if any of
00:19:52
you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously
00:19:56
to all without finding fault. Y' all,
00:20:00
he just wants to give you the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He just
00:20:04
wants to give you that wisdom and he delights
00:20:07
in helping you. We just sometimes
00:20:11
have to put our pride aside and our control
00:20:15
issues aside and realize asking for
00:20:18
help is not a bad thing. And we have the ultimate helper in the Lord.
00:20:23
So here's my challenge for you this week. Before making a decision,
00:20:27
big or small, ask the Holy Spirit
00:20:31
what he thinks about that. When you're planning your
00:20:35
day, when you're sitting there and you're thinking about, or all the things
00:20:39
that you have to do. Maybe you're writing in your planner all of your
00:20:42
appointments or you're jotting down your to do list.
00:20:46
Ask the Holy Spirit to shed wisdom upon it.
00:20:50
What are the things that are the most
00:20:54
necessary? What are the things that allow you to move
00:20:57
forward with God's plan for your life? And when you
00:21:01
feel stuck or confused this week, ask God to help you see it as
00:21:05
he sees it. Go ahead and put those God glasses on and look at it
00:21:09
with his perspective, with that spiritual lens. Because
00:21:12
the more we learn to ask for wisdom and walk
00:21:16
in wisdom, the more our hearts change. And as our
00:21:20
hearts change, y' all, we begin to bloom.
00:21:25
We grow in purpose and peace and in the presence
00:21:28
of God. So I'm going to close out today with a prayer
00:21:32
written by Bill Lipscomb. And I really love this
00:21:35
prayer because of the punchline at the end. I want to see if you can
00:21:39
get it. So in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
00:21:41
the Holy Spirit, Amen. Jesus, son of the living
00:21:45
God, have mercy on us. Touch our eyes,
00:21:48
our mouths, our ears, and our hearts to your healing
00:21:52
grace. Give us the strength to dig to the depths of our
00:21:56
hearts to expose our deepest desires, the courage
00:21:59
to open our hearts to you and the wisdom to ask for all
00:22:03
that we need, which is to say, the wisdom to
00:22:07
ask for you. Amen. Did you catch the
00:22:11
punchline at the end? Right. All we need is the
00:22:14
wisdom to ask for him and how beautiful it is to ask for
00:22:18
that wisdom and to know that Jesus is all that we need.
00:22:23
