00:00:03
So we've made it to Holy Week and we are in that
00:00:07
final stretch of Lent. So how are you really
00:00:11
feeling as we are entering into Holy Week and
00:00:15
Easter is on Sunday? Are you
00:00:18
dreaming of that Easter brunch? The chocolate that you
00:00:22
can have? Or maybe it's just that
00:00:26
joy of celebrating the Resurrection with your friends or your
00:00:30
family. Or maybe you're really looking forward to
00:00:33
indulging into whatever that something is that you gave up for
00:00:37
Lent. Maybe sweets or scrolling socials or
00:00:40
sleeping in. But can we have a heart to heart for
00:00:44
a second? Because we have to remember that Lent isn't just about
00:00:48
sacrificing something and white knuckling through it for 40
00:00:52
days. It's not this spiritual crash
00:00:55
diet where we give up something only to jump back
00:00:59
into or fall into old habits. Second Easter
00:01:03
morning hits Lent is meant. To be so much
00:01:07
more. It's that invitation to
00:01:10
transformation and that real
00:01:13
transformation. It's likely going to take longer than the 40 days
00:01:17
of Lent. It takes time, it takes intentionality,
00:01:20
and of course, it takes the grace of God.
00:01:24
So today in this episode, I really want to
00:01:27
gently nudge you to pause and ask
00:01:30
yourself, has this Lent just been about what you gave
00:01:34
up, or has it been a season that's
00:01:38
formed you in some way? Has it softened your heart or
00:01:42
realigned your habits or giving you clarity around what
00:01:45
God is calling you into? Because I want to challenge
00:01:49
you to not fall back into what was, quote unquote
00:01:52
normal if that normal wasn't serving you before
00:01:55
Lent. So in today's episode, I'm going to share
00:01:59
three tools that I know can help you carry the fruit
00:02:03
of your Lent beyond Lent and really letting
00:02:07
those Lenten sacrifices actually lead to something that's
00:02:10
lasting and life giving. Welcome

Welcome to Nourish to Bloom, where every day is a sacred
00:03:47
invitation to thrive. Hey there. Welcome to
00:03:50
this episode of the Nourish to Bloom podcast. I hope you are
00:03:54
having a beautiful and blessed week as we
00:03:58
are ending our Lenten journey and entering into
00:04:02
Holy Week and all the Holy Week, all the
00:04:05
emotions that Holy Week brings, right? The
00:04:09
solemnness, the sorrow of Christ's passion, but then just
00:04:13
the joy of Easter Sunday and the
00:04:16
resurrection. Or are you just too busy
00:04:20
trying to Amazon last minute Easter basket
00:04:23
gifts? Or are you trying to
00:04:27
plan where everybody's going to sleep when they visit your house and what you're going
00:04:31
to serve and just on and on and on, right? Just the
00:04:36
gosh, rat race of it. All right, that comes with
00:04:39
the holidays. Or are you really taking that
00:04:43
posture of really
00:04:46
focusing your mind and your heart on
00:04:50
what really matters in this Holy Week?
00:04:54
I think we're all probably all over the place. I know that I am.
00:04:58
Just seems like everything hits all at the same time. We
00:05:01
have had a field trip today and a
00:05:06
second grade musical on Thursday and it's just like, oh my gosh,
00:05:09
all these things happening in this week when really that
00:05:13
reality is just wanting to, I think, sit there
00:05:16
at, at the cross at the foot of Jesus and
00:05:20
just thank him for the sacrifice
00:05:24
that he. He went through and just all that it means for you
00:05:28
and for me. And so,
00:05:31
you know, I think it's a good time to kind of reflect back on what
00:05:35
your Lenten journey has been. Have you
00:05:39
really had some realigning of habits? Have you
00:05:43
experienced something that's really transformed you over these
00:05:46
last 40 days? Or are you in
00:05:50
that place where you're like, all right, can't wait till Easter Sunday so I can
00:05:53
get back to whatever it was that you gave up. And
00:05:57
I want to challenge you to really stop and Think about what your
00:06:01
Lenten journey has been and what it has meant, and if you
00:06:05
have taken steps to realign some of
00:06:08
your habits or you have found clarity
00:06:12
in this particular area of your life.
00:06:15
I really want to offer you three tools that I I
00:06:19
believe are kind of foundational to really helping you
00:06:23
continue to move forward on these changes that you've made or
00:06:27
the transformation that you've experienced. And really this
00:06:30
idea of being able to carry the fruit of your
00:06:34
Lent beyond Lent and
00:06:37
letting these sacrifices continue to
00:06:41
grow and transform into something that'
00:06:44
sustainable and lasting and life giving.
00:06:49
So I have these three tools that I think are, like I said, are really
00:06:52
foundational. And the first one is
00:06:56
your spiritual disposition, what your heart
00:07:00
posture is. This one is something
00:07:03
that I think the Lord kind of gave me this message last
00:07:07
week through the readings. And I think it's really everything.
00:07:11
It's kind of. It's
00:07:15
foundational because I think the Lord just kind
00:07:19
of gives this to us and it's really. Do you remember the parable
00:07:23
of the sower? Right. We can find it in Luke chapter
00:07:27
six. And Jesus tells us in the parable of the
00:07:30
sower about seeds being scattered, right? And some land on rocky
00:07:34
ground, some among thorns, some get eaten by birds.
00:07:38
And then he tells us about the good soil, that that's where the seed
00:07:41
takes root and grows, and it produces a harvest.
00:07:46
Let's listen. Luke chapter
00:07:49
8, verse 4
00:07:54
through 8. The parable of the Se When a. Large crowd
00:07:57
gathered with people from one town after another journeying to him, he
00:08:01
spoke in a parable, A sower went out to sew his seed.
00:08:05
And as he sowed, some seed fell. On the path and was trampled,
00:08:09
and the birds of the sky ate it up. Some seed fell on
00:08:12
rocky ground, and. When it grew, it withered for lack of moisture.
00:08:16
Some seed fell among thorns, and the. Thorns grew with it and choked
00:08:20
it. And some seed fell on good soil. And
00:08:23
when it grew, it produced fruit a hundredfold. After
00:08:27
saying this, he called out, whoever has ears ought to hear.
00:08:33
So we know that Jesus teaches us in parables, and he doesn't always
00:08:36
give an explanation to the meaning,
00:08:40
understand what the point or the teaching of the parable was. But
00:08:44
with this one he does. So if we go a little bit. Further here in
00:08:48
Luke chapter eight, he explains really what this parable of the
00:08:51
sower means. And it's all about our heart posture.
00:08:57
So In Luke chapter 8, starting verse. 11, this is the meaning
00:09:00
of the parable. The seed is the word of God. Those
00:09:04
on the path are the ones. Who have heard, but the devil comes. And takes
00:09:08
away the word from their. Hearts that they may not believe and be
00:09:11
saved. Those on rocky ground are the ones who, when they
00:09:15
hear, receive the word. With joy, but they have no root. They
00:09:18
believe only for a time and fall away in time of trial.
00:09:23
As for the seed that fell among thorns, they are the ones who have.
00:09:26
Heard, but as they go along, they are choked by the anxieties and
00:09:30
riches. And pleasures of life, and they fail. To produce mature
00:09:34
fruit. But as for the seed that fell. On rich soil, they
00:09:37
are the ones. Who, when they have heard the word. Embrace it with a generous
00:09:41
and good. Heart and bear fruit through the perseverance,
00:09:48
right? So he explains what these different types of soil are
00:09:52
and how these are all of our this is our heart posture, that
00:09:56
this, this is really an explanation of our heart and our spiritual
00:09:59
disposition to how we are living our lives
00:10:03
and hearts and our minds are turned towards,
00:10:07
right? If our spiritual disposition is distracted or cynical
00:10:10
or hardened, even those most beautiful seeds that God is trying to
00:10:14
plant in us, seeds of peace, of
00:10:17
purpose, of healing or discipline, they're not going to
00:10:21
take root. So I want to invite you
00:10:25
to reflect on what is your spiritual disposition? What kind of
00:10:29
soil is your heart? Do you need to keep tending your
00:10:33
soil, to cultivate it, to turn your heart and
00:10:36
your mind and your whole spiritual disposition towards the
00:10:40
Lord, right? And so then letting this week be that
00:10:43
time of reflecting, of understanding, in what areas of your
00:10:47
life is the devil coming and stealing the word of
00:10:51
God, Right? What areas of your life do you find
00:10:55
such joy and comfort and peace. In the word of God? But
00:10:58
then a time of struggle or trial hits, and you're so easy to give
00:11:02
that up, to give up that hope, to say, oh, I need to figure this
00:11:05
out on my. On my own, instead of surrendering it to the Lord,
00:11:09
or what part of your life are you
00:11:13
letting the anxieties and the riches and the worldly pleasures
00:11:17
and the external pressures choke out
00:11:21
that seed, that fruit that the Lord is trying to bear in your
00:11:25
life? So take some time and reflect and ask
00:11:28
yourself, what spiritual fruit have you seen growing over these
00:11:32
last 40 days? And then where do you need to keep
00:11:35
watering or pulling weeds so that growth
00:11:38
continues and then inviting the
00:11:42
Lord into it? God, what are you still trying to show me
00:11:45
here? And being open to listening
00:11:49
to how he's asking you to shift and change your spiritual
00:11:53
disposition. And then with this,
00:11:56
this first kind of tool of, of your spiritual
00:12:00
disposition, the next one kind of goes hand in Hand with it.
00:12:04
It's that renewal of your mindset. It's
00:12:07
recognizing the lies. Like, if you've listened to
00:12:11
this podcast at all for a bit, you know how much I love a
00:12:14
mindset because it's something I could talk about all day because it
00:12:18
is so foundational. And it's how this. This spiritual
00:12:22
disposition, right? Our. How our hearts are open to receiving
00:12:26
the word of God and it is so
00:12:29
interconnected with our mindset, right, that. That
00:12:33
mindset work really is this spiritual work too,
00:12:36
because we know that so much of that spiritual warfare takes
00:12:40
place in the mind. Because the
00:12:44
enemy is so sneaky, right? Like, he doesn't come at us with
00:12:48
these, like, flashing warning signs, like, here I am. I'm the devil, I'm the
00:12:51
enemy. Beware. He whispers these lies that
00:12:55
sound almost like the truth.
00:12:59
You're not disciplined enough. You messed up again, so
00:13:02
why even try? This change isn't
00:13:06
sustainable for you. You can't do this. You'll never be good
00:13:10
at this. But y'all. Scripture
00:13:14
tells us to take every thought captive and make it obedient
00:13:18
to Christ. 2nd Corinthians 10:5 tells us
00:13:22
this. And that means learning to recognize
00:13:25
what thoughts are not coming from God and
00:13:29
then learning to reframe, to
00:13:32
renounce that lie in the name of Christ and then replace
00:13:36
it with God's truth. And it's something that
00:13:40
we can practically do. I've talked about it before in previous
00:13:44
episodes, but mind mapping, right? How we can start to create this
00:13:48
holy headspace, understanding that you have this
00:13:52
thought, and when you think this thought, how do you feel? And when you
00:13:55
feel this way, what do you do? What are the actions that you're
00:13:59
taking? And then what fruit is it bearing? You can
00:14:03
map that out all day long, right? The
00:14:06
thought produces an emotion, and from that emotion,
00:14:10
we act a certain way. And when we act a certain way,
00:14:14
we get certain results, which is the fruit that that thought is bearing in our
00:14:17
life. And so when we
00:14:21
can recognize this thought and understand that it's a lie, we can name
00:14:25
that lie, we can write it down, or we can say
00:14:29
it out loud and call it for what it is, a
00:14:32
lie. And then in the name of Jesus, we can renounce that
00:14:36
lie simply by saying, in the name of Jesus
00:14:39
Christ, I renounce whatever that lie is,
00:14:43
fill in that blank there. And then
00:14:47
we can reframe it, and we can embrace what
00:14:50
scripture or God given truth we know
00:14:56
so we don't have to be a victim to that thought or to that lie
00:15:00
anymore. So you can name it, renounce
00:15:03
it, and then reframe it.
00:15:07
So the lie, I'll always struggle with this, with this,
00:15:11
whatever this is, so renounce it. In the
00:15:15
name of Jesus, I renounce this lie that I'm always
00:15:19
going to struggle with this habit.
00:15:24
And the truth is, God's mercies are new every morning.
00:15:28
He is making me new.
00:15:32
So just remember that this mindset work is spiritual work,
00:15:36
and it goes hand in hand with that spiritual
00:15:39
disposition. This is what helps us have a holy headspace,
00:15:43
and it's what helps us have a heart that is turned towards the
00:15:47
Lord. And when you start to uproot these weeds of
00:15:50
unhealthy thinking, you learn to make room
00:15:54
for the seeds of freedom and lasting change.
00:15:59
And that brings us to this third tool that I think is so
00:16:03
necessary and it's really is so practical.
00:16:06
But we struggle with this a lot. But it's removing
00:16:10
distractions in our life. And when we can remove these
00:16:14
distractions, it's making space, it's making room to listen
00:16:17
to the Lord. And y'all, I get it. It's really not
00:16:21
glamorous. It's something we like
00:16:25
to hold on to. But it is so necessary to remove these
00:16:28
distractions because I think all of us, right, we want to hear the
00:16:32
Lord's voice. We want to say, lord, speak to me, God, I want to hear
00:16:35
you. While our phones are buzzing, our schedules are jammed, and
00:16:39
we've said yes to way too many things. We are
00:16:42
so distracted by so much noise in our
00:16:46
life that we cannot hear the Lord
00:16:50
speaking to us. It's really hard
00:16:54
to hear God's voice when we are constantly surrounded by this
00:16:57
noise. So what would. What would it look like
00:17:00
to just clear the clutter, even just a little bit?
00:17:04
Clear the clutter of your life, of your mind? Maybe that
00:17:08
looks like unsubscribing from emails that just constantly
00:17:12
flood your inbox, that don't bring you peace or purpose, that are
00:17:15
not helpful, but literally just junk. Maybe it's
00:17:19
unsubscribing from a. From
00:17:22
Netflix, Prime Video, Live
00:17:26
tv, whatever it is unsubscribing from
00:17:29
a subscription that is just costing you wasted
00:17:33
money, that just sends you junk. Maybe it's
00:17:36
turning off notifications on your phone so you're not constantly
00:17:40
listening to a buzz going off and anxiously wondering, like, does that need
00:17:44
my attention? Maybe it's saying no to
00:17:48
something good so that you can say yes
00:17:51
to something great. Clearing
00:17:55
distractions isn't about perfection. It's not about
00:17:59
trying to be more productive. It's really about creating this space
00:18:03
to actually hear what God might be whispering into your life right
00:18:06
now. And here's the
00:18:10
truth. When we declutter our time, our minds
00:18:14
and our hearts, we can see and
00:18:17
witness God showing up because he's already there.
00:18:21
He's always speaking. We just have to make space
00:18:25
to receive it. So as we wrap
00:18:29
up this Lenten season and we're going forward, I want you to know
00:18:32
this, that you don't have to go back to the way it was before.
00:18:36
That you don't have to give up or unlearn the growth
00:18:40
or healing or connection you've built with God during this season.
00:18:44
And you don't have to do it alone.
00:18:48
So let this time of Holy Week be
00:18:52
a time of reflection, not regret, not of beating yourself
00:18:56
up, of oh, I should have done more or I should have made more progress,
00:19:00
but just reflecting on the fruit that the Lord is already
00:19:03
producing in your life by just that small sacrifice that
00:19:07
you made almost 40 days ago.
00:19:11
And let this Holy Week continue to be a time of
00:19:14
preparation. Not just for Easter brunch,
00:19:18
but a time of preparation of how the Lord
00:19:21
is changing you, of that transformation that
00:19:25
he's made in you, that you are
00:19:29
getting closer to that person who's living with purpose, with
00:19:32
peace, and a faith that is going to continue to grow beyond
00:19:36
these 40 days. I thank you
00:19:40
for tuning in to the podcast for our 40 day
00:19:44
Linton challenge. And just a reminder that we have our last
00:19:47
live Q and A session taking place this Wednesday at
00:19:51
1pm Central Standard Time. So even if you haven't made it in the weeks
00:19:55
before, you can come join us this week, 1pm
00:19:59
on Wednesday. You can sign
00:20:01
up@lintcaratracta.com and you'll get all the
00:20:05
information to join us on that zoom call. But thank you
00:20:09
for joining me, journeying with me during this Lenten season.
00:20:12
I hope your Holy Week is beautiful and blessed,
00:20:16
and I hope that you can fully
00:20:19
embrace the alleluia that comes on this
00:20:22
Sunday morning. Remember, beauty held is
00:20:26
the seed, beauty shared is the flower. It is your
00:20:30
time to bloom. Until then, until next
00:20:33
week. Take care and God bless. We'll talk soon. Bye.
