Hey friend, have you ever started the New Year with grand goals only to feel doubt and confusion creeping in just a week later? You're not alone. Many of us set those lofty New Year's resolutions and quickly find ourselves wondering, "Can I really do this?"
This week on the Nourish to Bloom Podcast (episode 44, just saying!), I delved into a transformative perspective that might just shift the way you approach your goals. Spoiler alert: It's all about letting Jesus find you, even in those messy, doubt-filled moments.
Here's the thing that stood out to me the most...
I explored Heather Kim's Advent devotional, Encountering Emmanuel, and her unique take on the Parable of the Lost Sheep. Instead of just thinking about the lost sheep as a wayward soul, she invites us to consider those lost parts within ourselves β parts that need Jesus's healing touch.
Think about it β what if those parts of you that feel distant or doubting are just areas that haven't yet encountered the Lord's full love?
Here's a sneak peek at what you can expect to hear inside Episode 44 of the Nourish to Bloom Podcast π:
π A new interpretation of the Parable of the Lost Sheep through Heather Kim's Advent devotional
π Maybe it's your fear of failure, or the comparison game you play, or even a hidden dream you're scared to pursue.

π Practical steps to invite Jesus into the hidden or fearful parts of your heart
π€ How setting goals with God's guidance can transform your life
βοΈ The importance of integrating faith into your New Year's resolutions for a holistic approach to wellness
Here's the key to a more joyful, peaceful and fulfilled life: By identifying these "lost sheep" within us and actively inviting Jesus into those spaces, we experience His transformative love. This isn't just about setting goals; it's about integrating and healing parts of us that need His touch.
Friend, you are capable of incredible growth and transformation, even when doubt and fear try to tell you differently.
π£ Exciting news! I'm hosting a Goal Setting with God workshop starting the first week of February. For four weeks, we'll dive deep into aligning your goals with God's vision, identifying obstacles, and crafting a detailed action plan. Teaching, coaching, Q&Aβall designed to help you thrive in 2025!
So friends, if you're ready to invite the Lord into your New Year's goals and discover the beauty of aligning every part of your life with His love, tune in now. Let's make this year one of profound spiritual and personal growth.

00:02:19

00:02:23
Hello. Welcome back to another episode of the Nourish
00:02:26
to Bloom podcast. Today we're actually going to
00:02:30
continue our conversation on exploring different
00:02:33
perspectives on how to gain clarity for New Year's
00:02:37
goals. We covered this probably in episodes 40 and
00:02:40
41, I believe, so be sure to go Back and listen to those. We really
00:02:44
looked at it from the perspective of Mary's Fiat, as well
00:02:48
as looking at it as planting new seeds in the new year. And
00:02:51
today I want to share just another perspective.
00:02:55
This really came out for me during the Advent season, and
00:02:59
it's something that just was really, really impactful. And I keep
00:03:03
returning to this particular visual, and it just
00:03:07
has really helped me see where I need to invite the Lord more
00:03:10
fully into my life. Meaning it's helping me focus
00:03:14
on what areas that I. That the Lord needs
00:03:18
to transform in my own life. And that's really
00:03:21
guiding me into this new year and as I set goals.
00:03:26
And it's really this perspective that's been inspired by
00:03:29
Heather Kim's Advent devotional, Encountering
00:03:32
Emmanuel. And I think that you'll also
00:03:36
find this perspective maybe a little bit challenging.
00:03:40
I definitely did. It's something I'd never really looked at from this
00:03:44
perspective, using the Parable of the Lost Sheep, but also
00:03:47
really comforting, really just
00:03:51
offering comfort because it's giving you so much
00:03:55
clarity to see where the Lord needs to come
00:03:58
into your life. But in her devotional, Heather invites us to
00:04:02
revisit the Parable of the Lost Sheep. Now, this
00:04:06
is a story that many of us know well, and
00:04:09
typically we think of the 99 sheep,
00:04:13
the ones that the shepherd knows where they are, that the.
00:04:17
The 99 sheep are representing the people who have stay close to the
00:04:21
Lord, while that lost sheep
00:04:24
symbolizes the person who has strayed.
00:04:27
But in her devotional, Heather offers this fresh
00:04:31
interpretation. She asks us to consider that
00:04:35
the 99 sheep might represent the parts of our
00:04:38
lives that have already encountered the Lord, while the law
00:04:42
sheep symbolizes the parts of us that are still
00:04:46
distant, unreconciled, and in need
00:04:50
of the Lord's healing touch.
00:04:53
Now, I don't know about you, but I really find this perspective pretty
00:04:57
profound. It can really help us understand why we
00:05:01
often experience these conflicting feelings within ourselves.
00:05:05
Why is it that we can feel faith and doubt in at the same
00:05:08
time, or confident and fearful at the same time, or that
00:05:12
virtue and vice can coexist in our hearts? And
00:05:16
Heather's insight reminds us that we are not yet fully
00:05:19
integrated with the Lord, that there are parts of us, certain
00:05:23
thoughts, certain habits, certain wounds, and even certain desires
00:05:26
that have yet to encounter the Lord's transformative
00:05:30
love, while other parts of us have been fully
00:05:33
reconciled and are integrated with the Lord? And we find
00:05:37
often peace and joy and fulfillment with those
00:05:40
pieces of our lives that have already
00:05:44
been, you know, brought to the light and have experienced that
00:05:48
transformation. And I'll admit that
00:05:51
honestly, this realization brought me a great deal of
00:05:55
comfort because throughout this Heather explains that that tension
00:05:58
that we feel between faith and doubt or between virtue and vice
00:06:02
is just really this natural part of our human experience
00:06:06
that these opposing forces coexist because our hearts
00:06:10
are truly a work in progress. And this is where the beauty of
00:06:14
the Good shepherd comes in. Jesus isn't afraid of our
00:06:17
messiness or the parts of us that are still lost because
00:06:21
he's actively seeking out those areas and ready to
00:06:25
carry us back into his fold.
00:06:28
So as we continue into the New year and really think about our
00:06:32
goals, this perspective can be a really powerful
00:06:35
tool. Instead of simply focusing on what we want to
00:06:39
achieve or change, we can start to ask ourselves what
00:06:43
areas of our life are like the lost sheet? What
00:06:47
parts of you have you kept hidden from the Lord's love
00:06:51
and why? Maybe it's a fear of failure, or maybe
00:06:55
you're struggling with comparison or even a sense of
00:06:58
unworthiness. But when we identify these lost
00:07:01
parts, we can invite Jesus into those spaces.
00:07:05
So I just want to share a couple of things to offer a
00:07:09
practical way for you to apply this as you are
00:07:12
embarking on your goals for the New year. So
00:07:16
first, take time to reflect on your 99
00:07:19
sheep. Take the time to acknowledge
00:07:23
with gratitude the areas of your life where you've
00:07:26
already experienced God's presence and grace.
00:07:30
Maybe it's your relationships, maybe it's your work or your
00:07:34
career or your ability to trust him fully,
00:07:38
surrender to him in certain situations, really take the time
00:07:41
to celebrate those areas and thank him for his
00:07:45
faithfulness. It's also an opportunity to reflect
00:07:49
back on maybe the process. How did those
00:07:52
areas come to really rest in God's
00:07:56
presence? What was the path that you took to get there?
00:08:00
Because you can use that as, as a way, like a stepping stone, a process
00:08:03
to see how you can take some of, maybe your
00:08:07
lost sheep and apply that same process to
00:08:11
continue to bring all the lost parts
00:08:15
of you or all the parts of you that yet to really
00:08:18
experience God's transform, transformative love. Bring that all
00:08:22
back into the sheepfold. So that leads us into identifying
00:08:26
your lost sheep. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the parts of
00:08:30
your life that feel distant or disconnected from God.
00:08:34
This might be a particular struggle or an
00:08:38
overwhelming fear, or even this dream
00:08:42
or this desire that has been on your heart, but you're hesitant to
00:08:45
pursue. Write these down and bring them to
00:08:49
prayer. I can even I'm such a visual person. One thing
00:08:52
that haven't done it yet. My kids are still out for the
00:08:56
holidays, but when they're back in school, I can really see.
00:09:00
I really want to draw out my sheepfold and have, you know, my 99
00:09:04
sheep really looking and, and visualizing and drawing out the parts
00:09:07
that are, are fully integrated with the Lord. And then
00:09:11
outside my sheepfold, identifying maybe, you know, those lost
00:09:15
sheep, the areas that I need to bring to the Lord to ask him
00:09:18
to shed His. His mercy and his compassion and
00:09:22
his grace upon so whether
00:09:26
you're a visual person or you want to write it down, it's really good
00:09:30
exercise to identify your loss sheet. And then
00:09:33
number three, invite the Good shepherd in
00:09:37
prayer. Visualize your Use your
00:09:40
imagination for this amazing opportunity to
00:09:44
visualize Jesus seeking out those lost parts of your
00:09:47
heart. Can you, can you see that? Can you imagine
00:09:51
that? Imagine him carrying them back to his fold with
00:09:55
tenderness and care and rejoicing
00:09:59
because there's yet another part of your heart that you have surrendered
00:10:03
to Him. Ask him to guide you in surrendering those areas to
00:10:07
his love and grace. And then
00:10:11
set your goals with God. Instead of creating goals rooted
00:10:14
solely in self improvement, really try to frame them
00:10:18
as invitations for God to work in your life. For
00:10:22
example, instead of saying I want to be less anxious, you
00:10:26
might pray, lord, help me trust you more deeply in the moments
00:10:29
I feel anxious. I think this is really awesome because
00:10:33
it's also reminding you that you're not alone, that he is right
00:10:37
there with you, and that you're, you're kind of tackling
00:10:41
these goals and these obstacles together and
00:10:44
then finally trust the process. Remember that
00:10:47
integration and healing takes time. I think the
00:10:51
one number one thing about New Year's goals is that we want those
00:10:55
quick fixes. We want to snap our fingers and our goal
00:10:59
be met. But that isn't lead to
00:11:02
lasting and true sustainable transformation.
00:11:06
So just be patient with yourself. Know that
00:11:10
the Good shepherd is patient with you and that he is
00:11:13
rejoicing over every step that you are taking toward
00:11:17
Him. And so as we close, I
00:11:21
want to leave you with this encouragement that the tension you feel within your
00:11:24
heart isn't a sign of failure. It's a sign of ongoing
00:11:28
work God is doing in you. The Good shepherd is
00:11:32
always seeking, always calling, and always ready to carry
00:11:36
you back to Him. Let that truth guide you as
00:11:39
you step into this New year.
00:11:43
As always, thank you for joining me today. Do not
00:11:47
forget that the first week of February I will be
00:11:50
hosting a Goal Setting with God workshop. It's actually, it kicks off
00:11:54
the first week of February, but we're gonna do four weeks. We're going
00:11:58
to really work on identifying those goals, aligning them with
00:12:01
God number week number two. We're going to identify any
00:12:05
obstacles or struggles that may come up that would
00:12:09
prevent you from reaching that goal. And then we're going to get into creating
00:12:12
your action plan over the last two weeks.
00:12:16
So it'll be a combination of teaching
00:12:20
and coaching. So we're going to do some workshop style things
00:12:24
together. We're going to really map this out out. And then in each of the
00:12:27
sessions I'll open it up to coaching, any
00:12:31
mindset coaching, any kind of Q and A you might have.
00:12:34
So again, that is coming the first week of February.
00:12:38
Registration is not open yet, but you can go ahead and
00:12:42
join the wait list and I will send that registration out to all of
00:12:45
you who are on the waitlist so you can sign up when it is available.
00:12:49
But until next time, remember, Beauty Hub Held is the seed. Beauty Shared
00:12:53
is the flower. It is your time to bloom. I hope you have a
00:12:57
beautiful and blessed week and I will see you right back here
00:13:00
next week. Take care. Bye.
