00:00:02
Well, we made it to the end of 2024 and I'd
00:00:05
be lying if I said this last week wasn't a doozy for our
00:00:09
family, but yet here we are at the end. And I think it's just
00:00:13
natural that we spend some time to really reflect on the past
00:00:17
year, to see the parts of our lives that God
00:00:21
was moving and working in and really be able to
00:00:24
focus on the gratitude. Because despite every
00:00:28
crazy, unfortunate thing that has happened this last,
00:00:31
I can honestly say 2024 was a great
00:00:35
year for myself and for my family. And
00:00:39
I'm honestly just so blessed
00:00:42
despite all these difficulties and hardships that have
00:00:46
come up over the past year. And I think a lot of it I can
00:00:50
attribute to just having this faith and knowing that God is
00:00:54
there all the time. And so I want to lead you through
00:00:58
a little bit of a reflection exercise for this
00:01:01
past year as we close out 2024, so
00:01:05
I hope you'll join me. Let's get started.

00:02:39
to Nourish to Bloom, where every day is a sacred Invitation
00:02:42
to Thrive. Hey there. Welcome
00:02:46
back to the last Nourish to
00:02:50
Bloom podcast episode for the year of
00:02:53
2024. How crazy is that? I just
00:02:57
started this podcast in April of this year, and that was probably one of the
00:03:00
big highlights of the year. And if you ever go back and
00:03:04
listen to the beginning of the podcast, you'll kind of understand where this podcast came
00:03:08
from. But this time last year, I was
00:03:12
having conversations with God and doing a little bit of goal setting and
00:03:16
really asking God, you know, where do you want me to spend my time and
00:03:19
my energy and what do you want me to focus on in this next year?
00:03:22
How do you want me to serve? And he very clearly said to
00:03:26
me, a podcast. And I very clearly said, nope, don't think
00:03:30
that's gonna happen. And despite,
00:03:34
you know, me really not believing that this would ever happen,
00:03:37
God showed me the way. He really showed me that path.
00:03:41
Had all these questions of, well, how would I do this? What would I do?
00:03:44
And, you know, as soon as I was willing to
00:03:48
entertain God's plan for me, he of course showed
00:03:51
me the way and put a podcast course in
00:03:55
my path for me to purchase and learn how to do this. And
00:03:59
then, you know, we put the. The episodes out there and he brought
00:04:03
listeners. So I'm grateful for each one of you who tune in weekly.
00:04:07
I did mention in my little intro that it's been a heck of a week,
00:04:11
and I really thought about not putting an episode out
00:04:15
this week, but I had to stop and think, you know, just despite
00:04:19
everything that's happened this last week, meaning we didn't get to travel home
00:04:23
to see our family for Christmas because my middle one was
00:04:26
running a fever. And it ended up being. He ran a fever for 11
00:04:30
days. I took him to the ER yesterday. Turns
00:04:34
out he has mycoplasma pneumonia. We spent a night
00:04:38
in the hospital. He was discharged today, all the
00:04:41
things. And on top of this, we're supposed to fly out to Disney World
00:04:45
on Saturday for four days with the family. That
00:04:49
was their Christmas present. So,
00:04:52
needless to say, it's been a little bit crazy and hectic around here, but
00:04:56
despite all of that, I just really have to be so grateful
00:05:00
and thankful for all the blessings that the Lord has provided for us
00:05:03
in this last year. And so that's kind of what I want to do today,
00:05:06
is really kind of guide you, you through a little bit of a reflection, because
00:05:10
as we approach the end of this year, it's only natural that we reflect
00:05:14
on everything that's happened. The highs, the lows
00:05:17
and everything in between. And I really want to challenge you
00:05:21
to see where God was in the
00:05:24
highs, in the lows, in the everything in between, in the
00:05:28
everydays, and just really reflect on how he was moving
00:05:32
in your life. And so I'm going to kind of guide you through
00:05:36
what I kind of am calling this Faith Centered Year in
00:05:39
Review exercise. And it's just designed to help you
00:05:43
reflect on the growth that you've had this last year, maybe help
00:05:47
you renew your focus going into the new year and prepare your heart
00:05:51
to bloom in the year ahead. So
00:05:54
I really kind of broke this down into
00:06:00
really kind of three areas that we're looking
00:06:03
at, but just growth, grace, and
00:06:07
gratitude, not in that order. Gratitude, grace, and growth.
00:06:10
And so that's really what we're going to focus on, because as Christians,
00:06:14
we're called to really examine our lives regularly,
00:06:18
that we are, you know, really not supposed to dwell on our mistakes,
00:06:22
but to bring everything to the Lord and to seek his
00:06:26
wisdom. Psalm 139, verses 23 through
00:06:29
24 says, Search me, God, and know my heart, test me
00:06:33
and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive
00:06:37
way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.
00:06:41
And this idea of reflection can really be this act of faith
00:06:45
because it allows us to invite God into
00:06:48
our story, right? The story that we are writing with him and
00:06:52
acknowledge how he's been working in our lives, even in ways that we might not
00:06:56
have noticed. And so, like I said, this Year in Review
00:07:00
exercise is rooted in three pillars. Gratitude, grace, and growth.
00:07:04
And we're going to kick it off with gratitude. So I want you
00:07:07
to take a moment and think back on the year. What blessings
00:07:11
has God brought into your life? And they don't have
00:07:15
to be these grand or obvious things. Maybe it's
00:07:19
small moments of joy. Maybe it was a
00:07:23
really memorable conversation with a friend or
00:07:27
moments that made you laugh with your kids. Or
00:07:31
maybe after listening to this podcast, it's been a breakthrough in your
00:07:35
relationship with food. And I want you to write
00:07:38
down three things that you're grateful for from
00:07:42
this year. And as you
00:07:45
do, remember that every good and perfect gift is
00:07:49
from above. So
00:07:53
now I want to shift to maybe some areas that you experience, some
00:07:56
challenges. How did God show up in those
00:08:00
unexpected ways during those times?
00:08:04
How did he sustain you? What things did he provide?
00:08:08
Maybe it was tangible, or maybe it was spiritual
00:08:12
or emotional, or maybe it was through the people that you were
00:08:16
surrounded by. All of these
00:08:19
things allow us to put on that attitude of gratitude and It's a
00:08:23
way to honor God's faithfulness, even when life felt
00:08:27
hard. So now let's talk
00:08:30
about grace, both receiving it and giving it.
00:08:34
So when you think about any goals or intentions that you set at the
00:08:38
beginning of this past year, how did you feel?
00:08:43
Maybe you hit some milestones or maybe things didn't really
00:08:47
go as planned, and that is okay.
00:08:50
We're reminded in 2 Corinthians 12, 9 that my
00:08:54
grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect
00:08:58
in weakness. So take a minute and reflect on
00:09:02
these questions. Where did you notice yourself striving
00:09:05
for perfection instead of leaning on God's
00:09:09
grace?
00:09:13
How can you extend grace to yourself as you reflect
00:09:17
on areas where you fell short?
00:09:21
And is there someone in your life who needs your grace and
00:09:25
forgiveness?
00:09:28
And most importantly, as you reflect on these questions, this is not about
00:09:32
judging yourself. This is not about beating yourself up. It's
00:09:36
about the freedom and the permission to treat
00:09:39
yourself with compassion and mercy, just as the Lord treats
00:09:43
us that way. And finally,
00:09:47
let's talk about growth. So as we reflect
00:09:50
on this past year, it's important to really
00:09:54
celebrate those ways that you have grown in body,
00:09:58
mind, and spirit. So spiritually, how has
00:10:01
your faith deepened this past year? Did
00:10:05
you experience any new understanding of God's
00:10:08
character or his purpose for your life?
00:10:13
What about emotionally? What have you learned about
00:10:17
managing stress or emotions or
00:10:20
relationships? And
00:10:23
physically, how has your relationship with food and your body
00:10:27
changed? Did you experience moments of
00:10:30
freedom, satisfaction, or peace with food and your
00:10:34
body? And then think about
00:10:37
one area you want to continue growing on, growing in, in the new
00:10:41
year? And then pray over
00:10:44
it and ask God to guide your steps.
00:10:49
Philippians 1:6 reminds us, he who began a good
00:10:53
work in you will carry it on to
00:10:56
completion. And I really think this podcast is
00:11:00
a testimony to that. I think, you know, one of the most powerful
00:11:04
questions that I really asked was like, lord, where do you want me
00:11:08
to focus? How do you want me to spend my time and my
00:11:11
energy? And where do you want me to serve? That was really that attitude
00:11:15
that I took this past year, was this idea of serving.
00:11:19
And then surrender was really the word that I had
00:11:23
for myself this last year, was just surrendering all the things
00:11:27
that I was unsure of and just total surrender to the Lord
00:11:31
and his providence, knowing that he's. He's got it right, he's got
00:11:34
it. And so I don't know if you're a word of the year kind of
00:11:38
person. I'm. Maybe am. I don't know. It just Kind of
00:11:42
depends on the year and if anything really struck my fancy.
00:11:45
But really I, I shared this in a couple
00:11:49
episodes ago, but the, the Magnificat prayer and
00:11:53
the idea of the word behold and how behold was really about
00:11:58
calling attention to something that nobody was paying attention to.
00:12:01
And when we look at the encounter that Mary had with the angel
00:12:05
Gabriel and the word behold and how it was used in that and it
00:12:08
was this idea of like watch, watch what
00:12:12
God is going to do in this situation, in this
00:12:15
person's life. And so I've really kind of taken
00:12:19
that word and it's really, really meant something to me over
00:12:23
the last couple of weeks and I want to carry that into the new year.
00:12:26
Just this word behold and just this, this, this
00:12:30
thought of like behold and watch what the Lord is going to do in
00:12:34
my life and that I give him my yes,
00:12:37
that I give him my fiat that Lord, let that be done
00:12:41
according to your will. And I'm going to watch and I'm going to be
00:12:45
so grateful and behold, watch what I'm going to be
00:12:49
able to do because of, of you. And that's really kind of the
00:12:53
attitude I'm, I'm taking into the the new year.
00:12:56
But I really hope that this reflection has, has
00:13:00
given you a moment to really be able to pause to connect with God
00:13:04
and celebrate all the ways that you've grown this past year.
00:13:08
And just a reminder that his grace is sufficient and his plans for
00:13:12
you are good. And so just
00:13:15
a couple of things going into this new year. Of course the Faith Led
00:13:19
Food Free Freedom Program is always open so
00:13:23
for enrollment. So if you're interested in really healing your relationship with food
00:13:27
in your body in the new year, please reach out to me. You can find
00:13:31
the links to sign up for the Faith Led Food Freedom Program below
00:13:34
in the show notes. But that's an option that you have. And
00:13:38
then I'm really looking at entertaining kind of a
00:13:41
membership or mentorship type of
00:13:47
program or community where each month I offer up
00:13:51
a workshop and then we have three weeks of
00:13:54
coaching after that workshop to just really help go
00:13:58
deeper in whatever that workshop is about. And I know that I mentioned that
00:14:02
I was going to do a workshop in January on goal setting with
00:14:05
God. But if this last week has really taught
00:14:09
me anything is that I really do
00:14:13
not do well spiritually, mentally, emotionally,
00:14:16
with being overwhelmed and over scheduled. And when I look
00:14:20
at how Christmas break plays out with my kids, they're
00:14:24
off for three weeks so they actually don't go back to school until January
00:14:28
13th and I want to be able to spend that time
00:14:31
focused on them. Like I said, we're going on that trip. And so when I
00:14:34
really sat down and I and I looked at it and I prayed over it,
00:14:38
I really felt this permission to say, I did not have to do this in
00:14:41
January. So I'm actually postponing the Goal Setting with God
00:14:45
workshop until February. We're going to do that the first week of
00:14:49
February. You can still join the wait list. The link for that is still going
00:14:52
to be in the show notes to join the wait list for when registration opens.
00:14:56
But that's really going to be kind of that maybe kickoff to this
00:14:59
mentorship or membership community that
00:15:03
I'm going to try to build in this new year where we have a
00:15:07
workshop and then three weeks of coaching on whatever that topic
00:15:10
is. And so that first month would be goal setting with God. And with that,
00:15:14
we're going to be able to really align our goals. Whether
00:15:18
you're bringing a goal or maybe you started January, you're starting January with a
00:15:21
goal. The time you get to February, you're looking to recommit
00:15:25
to that. But in that first session, we're really going to look at
00:15:29
setting those goals and being able to align those goals with God and his
00:15:33
plan for our life. And then in the next session, we're going
00:15:36
to look at obstacles and things that can come up
00:15:40
and get in the way of us achieving those goals and then really work
00:15:44
on creating an action plan and kind of
00:15:47
steps that need to. That you need to take to help you reach whatever that
00:15:51
goal is for 2025. So I'd really love have you
00:15:54
join that Goal Setting with God workshop that is
00:15:58
happening the first week of February. Again, you can join that wait list
00:16:02
in the link in the show description. But other
00:16:06
than that, I am going to close out this
00:16:10
year. Just thankful that my son got to come home
00:16:13
from the hospital today and that we are all going to rest
00:16:17
and re energize and hunker down
00:16:21
until it's time for us to catch our plane to Florida. And then we're gonna
00:16:24
go spend a couple of days making some memories at Disney World
00:16:27
with our family. So I hope that however you're ringing in the new
00:16:31
year, that it is beautiful and it is blessed. And remember,
00:16:35
beauty held as a seed. Beauty shared is the flower. It's
00:16:39
your time to bloom. Thank you so much for joining me
00:16:43
and I will see you next week. Take care.
