Have you felt the volume turn up on health trends lately? From high-protein everything to supplements, medications, and the latest "must-do" routines… it can feel like the noise is everywhere.
And while none of it is inherently bad, it can quietly pull our focus away from what actually matters most.
This week on Nourished to Bloom, we press pause together and take an honest, grace-filled look at what we're really prioritizing in our health—mind, body, and soul.
Because at the end of the day, we're not just bodies to optimize… we are temples of the Holy Spirit, created for something far greater.
So the question becomes:
What are we really working for?
Earthly things that fade… or heavenly things that endure?
Here's what we explore in this episode:
🌱 The rise in "must-have" health trends—and how they subtly shift our focus without us even realizing it
📖 A powerful reflection from John 6:27 and what it means to work for "food that endures for eternal life"
🧠 Why it's so easy to become disciplined with our bodies… while unintentionally neglecting our souls
⚖️ The reminder that physical health matters—but it's about order, not either/or
✨ How to gently step out of the noise and re-center your health in what truly lasts
A gentle challenge for this week… a mini-examen:
🙏 Are we spending more time meal planning than in Scripture? 💪 Are our minutes of exercise greater than our time in prayer? 💭 Are we more focused on what we avoid eating than what we allow into our minds and hearts?
This isn't about shame—it's about awareness. A simple, honest invitation to pause, get curious, and allow God to lovingly reorder our priorities.
The truth is this: No supplement, routine, or "perfect" plan can replace a well-nourished soul.
When we seek first what truly lasts, everything else begins to fall into its rightful place—bringing a sense of peace, freedom, and alignment that no quick fix can offer.
If this episode spoke to you, share it with a friend who might need this gentle reminder 🤍
And if you're feeling called to go deeper in integrating your faith and your health, reach out—I'd love to walk alongside you. 📩 kara@karatrochta.com

00:00:01
Not that this is anything new, but there's a lot of noise in the health
00:00:04
space right now. The new trends, the new products, new
00:00:08
promises about what our body quote unquote needs.
00:00:12
And while none of that is inherently bad, it
00:00:15
can be quietly pulling your focus in a direction that you didn't even
00:00:19
realize. Because what if the biggest thing impacting your health right
00:00:23
now isn't your protein intake, the supplements you're taking, or your

00:02:17
I'm so happy you're here. Welcome to Nourish to
00:02:20
Bloom, where every day is a sacred invitation to
00:02:24
thrive. Hey there. Welcome back to
00:02:27
the Nourish to Bloom podcast, y'. All. This is where your faith
00:02:31
meets your health and where we focus and
00:02:35
prioritize on learning how to care for our whole
00:02:38
selves, mind, body and soul. That is the
00:02:41
foundation of what we do here. And I think this
00:02:45
episode really gets back to the heart of that. Because lately
00:02:48
I don't know about you, but it seems like my inbox,
00:02:52
the limited time that I'm on my social media feed, it's all just
00:02:56
starting to feel very, very loud again. There's
00:02:59
this new wave, this next wave of
00:03:02
resurfacing quick fixes and must have products
00:03:07
or hearing all about high protein everything, creatine,
00:03:11
this supplement, that supplement, GLP1 medications.
00:03:14
And it's like it's everywhere. Like there's not an escape or a
00:03:18
reprieve for this noise that is bombarding,
00:03:21
bombarding our lives, honestly. And if I'm being
00:03:25
honest, I have found myself somewhere in the middle of it
00:03:29
all. Part of me is curious to learn a little bit more
00:03:32
about some certain supplements, certain things that maybe might
00:03:36
fill in some nutritional gaps that I have address, maybe some symptoms
00:03:40
that I'm feeling. Part of me is very cautious. Like
00:03:43
these red flags are coming up because I spent so much time
00:03:47
chasing quick fixes for a lot of my life in the past.
00:03:52
And so there's that cautious, that healthy cautiousness of like
00:03:55
sometimes if something feels too good to be true, it's going to be too good
00:03:59
to be true. And I don't want to go back down that path. And
00:04:02
maybe you are feeling this too. I feel like especially Since
00:04:06
I turned 40 this year, it's like now I'm hearing words all
00:04:10
about perimenopause, being thrown around like it's this exclusive club
00:04:14
that we all have suddenly been invited to and really want to be
00:04:18
a part of. While there may actually be no reason for me
00:04:21
to be focused on perimenopause at this point in my life, but
00:04:25
overall I've just noticed paying a little bit
00:04:29
closer attention, doing a little bit more diligence in looking at some of
00:04:32
these things, looking a little bit deeper and asking more questions.
00:04:36
And I just want you to know, and I want to say this
00:04:40
clearly, that you've heard me say this numerous
00:04:44
times on the podcast, that there's nothing wrong with wanting to care for your body.
00:04:48
There's nothing wrong with wanting to optimize your physical well being.
00:04:53
But what I have found in the middle of
00:04:57
all this noise is that gentle but firm reminder
00:05:01
that helps keep me grounded and rooted as
00:05:05
I get curious, as I explore or ask
00:05:08
questions. And it's we cannot forget what is
00:05:12
foundational because when we let this noise
00:05:16
become the obsession, when we let this noise dictate and
00:05:20
rule our thoughts, our behaviors, our actions.
00:05:23
All day long, we lose what is
00:05:27
foundational to us. We cannot forget who
00:05:31
lives within us, that we are not just physical beings
00:05:35
trying to manage symptoms or improve metrics of an
00:05:39
earthly body, but we have to remember that
00:05:42
we are temples of the Holy Spirit,
00:05:46
that our bodies are this beautiful
00:05:49
dwelling place for the Holy Spirit, and that we are created in the
00:05:53
image of God, and that ultimately we
00:05:57
are made for eternal life. That is the end goal.
00:06:00
And our health, our true, lasting, meaningful health,
00:06:04
has to be rooted there first. And I came back to
00:06:08
this gentle reminder. I've told y' all before
00:06:12
that when these things come up for me, the Lord,
00:06:16
he provides in his word, right? He opens the Scriptures up
00:06:20
to where we can better understand, to hear more clearly, his
00:06:24
voice in the midst of the chaos that we live in.
00:06:28
And I was reminded of this in Scripture while reading
00:06:32
John, chapter 6, verses 23 through 29. And
00:06:36
in this verse, Jesus says, do not work for food that perishes,
00:06:40
but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son
00:06:43
of Man will give you. And it just made
00:06:47
me pause and it just. I just sat there for a minute
00:06:51
because it was, if I'm honest, it really made me
00:06:55
think and ask, like, what am I actually working for? Am
00:06:59
I focused on earthly things instead of heavenly things?
00:07:03
Am I striving for something that's not lasting and giving
00:07:07
time and energy and money into something that will
00:07:11
fade? That is a trend? Or am I really
00:07:15
focused on that foundation of doing the
00:07:19
things that I need to do, the work that I need to do
00:07:23
to ensure eternal life, right? To prepare my
00:07:26
soul for that? And so it just made me ask, you know, what am I
00:07:30
actually working for? And so I want to gently offer that same
00:07:34
question for you today. Not as a way to judge
00:07:38
yourself for things that you've done or do, not as
00:07:42
a sense of pressure that you need to change everything, but
00:07:45
just as an invitation. I want you to think of this as like
00:07:49
a little mini examine, if you will, and just ask
00:07:53
yourself, what kind of quote, unquote food are you working for right
00:07:57
now? Are you prioritizing your spiritual well
00:08:01
being, your relationship with the Lord, your
00:08:04
prayer life, going to Mass, participating in the sacraments,
00:08:08
your time in Scripture? Or are you
00:08:12
primarily focused on your physical health, the things
00:08:15
that at the end of the day, maybe only
00:08:19
have an earthly impact? And again, y', all, it's a reminder. This
00:08:23
isn't an either or, but it is about
00:08:26
order. It's about priority so as you do
00:08:30
this little examine, maybe ask yourself some honest
00:08:34
questions. I did, and it was pretty eye opening. Do
00:08:37
I spend more time meal planning than I do? In scripture,
00:08:42
it seems like meal planning is that thing that just never goes away.
00:08:46
And, you know, it's the time to plan the
00:08:50
meals, try to figure out what we're going to have, balance it with a
00:08:53
schedule, create the grocery list, either place the online
00:08:57
order and do the curbside, or go in and grocery shopping.
00:09:01
Right. But am I giving that much dedication to
00:09:05
reading God's word? Do I spend more time
00:09:09
exercising than I do in prayer? Think
00:09:13
about the number of exercise minutes that add up and are
00:09:16
they greater than the amount of time that you spend in prayer?
00:09:20
I noticed something that came up for me this week was I was sick all
00:09:23
of last week. I went to the doctor, I had bronchitis. I actually
00:09:27
think I might have had walking pneumonia. But there's this. I woke up this
00:09:31
morning and it was like this pressure of like, okay, I gotta get back to
00:09:34
the gym. I didn't do anything last week. And it was just that, wait
00:09:38
a minute. Let's focus, let's
00:09:42
reorient and order things here. I've been sick. It's
00:09:46
okay to not do these things when you've been sick. I'm taking
00:09:49
care of my physical well being
00:09:53
and not trying to fall into the trap of this
00:09:58
earthly pressure that I feel. Right. But it's
00:10:02
just interesting when you ask yourself these questions, to really kind of
00:10:06
calculate and add up the time that you spend focused
00:10:09
on your physical health versus the time that you spend on your spiritual well
00:10:13
being. Maybe it's a question of, am I
00:10:17
more focused on ingredients to avoid than
00:10:21
on what I am allowing to enter into my mind and my heart?
00:10:25
Right. Am I so concerned about not having this ingredient,
00:10:29
this ingredient, this ingredient, but yet allow
00:10:33
nonsense and noise to be filtered into my mind
00:10:37
and my heart without taking a second look at that and
00:10:41
understanding how that is going to impact my well being.
00:10:45
Because the truth is that most of us have become
00:10:48
incredibly disciplined in caring for our bodies, but
00:10:52
it's unintentionally left us neglecting our souls. And over
00:10:56
time, that creates kind of an imbalance that no
00:10:59
supplement, no protocol, no perfect routine can fix.
00:11:04
So this week, I just want to invite you into something simple, something that I'm
00:11:07
doing myself, just pausing and getting curious.
00:11:11
Not critical, but curious. If you notice that things feel
00:11:15
a little out of order, bring that to the Lord. Because
00:11:18
there's so much grace there and there's no shame in
00:11:21
Recognizing if you've been a little off track with prioritizing your
00:11:25
spiritual well being. And when you recognize it, y', all, that's
00:11:29
just awareness. And that is a beautiful gift from the Lord because
00:11:33
it gives you that opportunity to gently reorient, to come
00:11:37
back to what matters most. To remember that your
00:11:40
worth is not found in your body, your habits, your routines,
00:11:44
or your results. But your worth is found in
00:11:48
Christ and from that place, from a well
00:11:51
nourished soul. We can care for our bodies in a way that
00:11:55
is peaceful and grounded and aligned. Not
00:11:59
a place of reactiveness to, you know,
00:12:03
things that we're hearing outside of ourselves. Not a place of fearfulness
00:12:07
and not driven by the next quick fix,
00:12:12
but really something that is rooted, that is steady and
00:12:15
stable and that is freeing. So that's
00:12:19
my challenge for you this week, and I'll be doing it too. Just take a
00:12:23
few minutes for this mini examine and ask the Lord to show you where your
00:12:26
focus has been and then ask him to reorder your
00:12:30
priorities. Because when we seek first the things that last,
00:12:34
everything else begins to fall into its rightful place.
00:12:39
That when we let the heavenly things
00:12:42
constantly interrupt the earthly things, that we find that
00:12:46
order, we find that peace without having to strive,
00:12:50
without having to be obsessive. And
00:12:53
so, you know, if this episode spoke to you, I'd love for you to share
00:12:57
it with a friend who might need this reminder too. It was a reminder I
00:13:00
didn't even know I needed myself. And so I thank you
00:13:04
for being here with me today. And as always, if you're feeling called to go
00:13:08
deeper in this work and really work on integrating your faith with your
00:13:12
health, I'd love to walk alongside you. You can reach out,
00:13:15
simply send me an email karaharatrochtha.com and
00:13:19
we'll start that conversation and set up some time to have real
00:13:23
meaningful conversation about what it looks like to integrate your faith with
00:13:26
your health on an individual basis and help you
00:13:30
build something that's rooted, that's nourishing and helps
00:13:34
you keep blooming. Remember, beauty held is the seed, beauty shared is
00:13:37
the flower. It is your time to bloom. I pray that you have a beautiful
00:13:41
and blessed week and I'll see you right back here next week. Take soon.
00:13:45
Take care. Bye.
